Can I purchase additional siding to fully enclose the carport? How about ends?

Can I purchase additional siding to fully enclose the carport? How about ends?
Asked by: Goldwingluvr
this is my opinion only .. first you would need to insure the anchors per specs are cemented in as i think that enclosed would make the carport more easily turnover with high winds. my opion only. home depot sells the same siding i think. make sure to use the install 100% and you might be ok.

Tucson is not Iowa weather. Note the vertical roof model is the one for $1500 dollars vs. the horizontal one for $950.. If you have lots of snow go for the vertical roof model so the snow falls off easily.

Easy to follow directions. The only thing I needed that it didn't come with were anchor bolts to anchor the frame to concrete. Assembly was relatively easy but time consuming. My girlfriend and I did the assembly over 2 Saturdays. Could be done in a day with more help I'm sure. Looks solid and provides what was intended---SHADE.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second Home Depot Carport I'v Bought I ordered my second carport online, and expected a long wait for delivery (I was told 6 to 8 weeks). Two weeks later I received a phone call stating delivery would be the next day, and sure enough it was delivered before noon. I chose Home Depot's carport because of my experience with the first one. There were no missing parts and they even included extra fasteners in case I lost or damaged any. The instructions were very simple to follow; I set up my first one by myself in only about 2 hours. I had help with the second one and we had it up in a little over 30 minutes. I did some additional work to enclose both by drilling holes on the upright poles and fastening plywood panels using nuts and bolts with large washers. Drilling the holes in the uprights does not impair the strength of the frame. I've had the first one over 6 years and I use it to provide shelter for my horse on one half of the carport, and store hay for the horse on the other side. I divided the carport by putting 4X4 upright wooden posts in the middle and attached plywood panels to the posts. I have not had to do any maintenance in 6 years except to repaint the external plywood walls every 3 years. The second carport is used as a garage. We added height to it by building a brick wall 24 inches high on each side and anchoring down the carport ground frame using concrete bolts set into the brick walls. We covered the outside with plywood panels, added doors to enclose the structure, then painted the structure to match the surrounding home and horse barn. Unless you enter the 'garage' and see the carport framwork from inside, you would think the stucture was a contractor built garage costing several thousand dollars more than the 1400 dollar cost of the carport and another 500 dollars for brick, concrete and plywood; and a few more hours of work. I am very happy with both purchase and recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I recently purchased a two of this units in Arizona to store my boats under and the Versatube unit works great. I previously had purchased a Panther Creek unit from Home Depot and while it did have the predrilled holes in the tubing, if the ground was not perfectly level I had a hard time lining up the holes. Screwing into the flat surface of a square tube made it a little easier with Versatube. The strength of the Versatube unit seems much better and I was even able to get a copy of the stamped plans in case my local Building Dept says anything about me needing to pull a permit. Overall, I was very pleased with this product and I will definately be looking into them for my future garage I will be building in a year or two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from well made and solid This is a solid well made product. Some muscle (and clamps) were required to pull some parts into place, but not bad. The self-drilling screws worked, but drilling pilot holes worked best. Setting the foundation was the hardest part.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DIY carport not as easy as prior product I had to purchase this Versatube brand carport because Home Depot no longer carried the Panther Creek carports, which were great. This model has square metal tubing, as opposed to round, and it's somewhat easier to handle and fit the pieces together. However, the big downside to this brand is that none of the screw holes are pre-drilled. The Panther Creek carport was easy for one person to construct in two days with their pre-drilled holes. The Versatube model takes two people and twice as long. The materials are comparable to the Panther Creek carport, and they seem sturdy enough to withstand the weather (we get winds up to 50 mph). I'm using the provided 30" rebar stakes sunk in concrete to secure the carport. These are actually better than the 24" stakes provided by Panther Creek. Overall, this seems to be a good product, but watch out for delivery - it really requires a flatbed truck with a forklift, not just a regular delivery truck with a liftgate and pallet jack.
