This is a very small planter. Although it is quite cute, I'm not sure how well one could actually grow vegetables, other than lettuce and spinach and similar greens, in it. It has a shallow depth and is light enough to blow away on a somewhat windy day. It was a bit windy when I set it up to look at it, and it was next to impossible to hold together until the wind stopped. It is not usable on a deck because of the necessary holes in the liner. It came too late to fully set up this year. We will probably use it for growing herbs next year.

I obtained this raised planter specifically for growing some herbs outside. The planter itself is made of wicker wood. It does not have a bottom. It consists of four pieces of fairly thin wicker that are simply held together at the corners by thin strands of wire. The planter comes folded up and three of the pieces are already tied together and one has to manually tie the fourth piece together to make it into a square raised bed. The wicker pieces in the sample I received were somewhat unevenly cut, but fortunately it's not very noticeable. It also comes with a polyethylene bag with drainage holes that sits inside the wicker bed (see my pictures). The planter is 31 by 31 inches square and 7.5 inches high. Since it is not very deep, I think this planter is ideal for plants that do not grow very long roots. I put three 1 cubic foot bags of organic garden soil in the polyethylene bag, which pretty much filled it to the top. I have only owned this planter for just over one week and only recently put soil and the herb seeds that I'm hoping to grow in it, so I do not know how this planter will hold up in the long run. It has been out in some very heavy downpours already and did not break apart fortunately. I'm hoping that this wicker bed and the polyethylene bag can be used for more than one growing season. It will be easy to store the wicker bed as you can just untie one corner and fold it back up into a rectangle, the way it arrived.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mustLUVdogs Nice home garden starter.
Nice kit for shallow root vegetables. There are four interwoven rattan pieces measuring around 29 inches long and just under 8 inches deep each. There was a bit of unraveling on one of the corners but that can be easily fixed. The plastic insert fit nicely and has drainage holes already. I used mine to try out some summer squash, beetroot and butternut.

This is the perfect planter for a starter garden. I have about 10 small plants in mine. It is just deep enough for a veggie garden. It seems pretty durable, but I may try to disassemble and put it in the garage over the winter (we have hard winters here). It takes about 2 bags of potting soil to fill. It looks nice and does the job well. I would definitely recommend this for a small garden.

I wanted to try and grow some herbs this year. My yard is mostly shade and not great for growing anything. I have a small flower bed that gets the most sun and put 2 of them in that space. Planted a little late but the planters and wonderful and I may try and purchase a couple more for next year.

I love these raised beds. They are small and compact. It's so difficult to find woven willow garden products, so I am very pleased. Thanks Home Depot for having these affordable planters.
