Product Overview

This bench is made from premium grade Eucalyptus Grandis hardwood, grown in 100% well managed forests in Brazil. There is little difference between Eucalyptus and Teak when broken down to their core essence. The biggest attribute of Eucalyptus is undoubtedly the strength of the timber. It's renowned for its excellent resistance to every day wear and tear. It is extremely durable and tightly grained to produce a desirable density. It remains unaffected by all variations in weather, especially its resistance to damp conditions makes itself extremely competent at combating insect attacks and decay.

Suggest a base coat of boiled linseed oil PRIOR to assembly! This will seal the wood from the elements and yet still be able to apply a top-coat finish. Answer:
I don't know if it will stand up to wind and weather the way it comes, but we added two coats of lacquer which should help protect it.

Answer:
This type of wood will not rot, but will turn grey with exposure to rain and sun. You can apply a rub-on oil finish from time to time if you want it to keep its color.

Looking to do a school project for the playground. Students will be painting the bench. I assume this bench has some kind of finish on it that might prevent painting.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Benches We ordered 2 benches for a Girl Scout Community Service project. We opened the first one and it was broken. We returned them both and went with another company for our benches. Not happy at all. September 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great bench I've been in the market for a good quality bench for my front patio and was considering teak. I use to work for a company who marketed teak furniture so so I am quite familiar with its quality and know it really is the best. However teak is so expensive and I would be heart broken if someone stole it. I decided on this bench after finding good reviews from other sites. It's a light weight bench and the quality is superior to others I've seen on the market. As with most benches it will require a rub down with oils to keep its luster. If you want to purchase a bench cushion, dimensions are 45 inches long x 18 inches wide x 2.5 inches deep. I purchased several cushions before finding the right size and this is it. August 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks nice but some negatives I loved the look of this bench online....and it looks pretty nice in person as well. It seems sturdy and was really pretty easy to put together. My only complaint is that the bend seat had a few nicks and scratches when it arrived. The package was not damaged in any way so it was either that way when it was packaged or should have had some padding in the box to prevent the boards from hitting each other in transit. I am thinking a little stain and it should be fine, but it was a little disappointing. August 4, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I have already recommended this product to a friend who noted it. Assembly was easy even for a klutz like me. Assembled in 30 minutes. June 24, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by You Get What You Pay For.... Product came well packed but the wood still had numerous dings, dents, worm holes and cracks in it, obviously there when it was shipped. One crack went the whole length of the top rail on the back rest. Almost every screw used to attach the supports was stripped (over-tightened) and had to be replaced and re-glued. Wood is some sort of poor quality Vietnamese wood that is rather soft and with basically a poor washed-on stain/finish that was very rough. Had to sand & refinish everything prior to assembly. Instructions were a single printed drawing of the parts and the finished assembled product. Not too difficult to figure out but be sure not to over-tighten the screws -- they WILL strip out due to the soft wood! Overall, it may last 1-2 years out in the weather unless you put some other weatherproof finish on it first. Basically, not too bad of a bench but, "You get what you pay for...." April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect I bought the garden bench for a small patio I built. The bench was a perfect fit, plus it is beautiful and comfortable to sit on. I couldn't be happier. March 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very nice wood bench We wanted a comfortable bench for our front porch and this looks great. It's nice for sitting and reading, was easy to assemble and seems well made. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal for the price These seem well made and sturdy. We bought two, and had them assembled in about 20 minutes. I had my son apply a layer of stain / sealer because the factory finish looked a little thin. They look nice, are comfortable and sturdy. Hundreds of dollars cheaper than teak. December 29, 2015
