The spring and gasket corrode and fall apart after a few months. I purchased the pump in August 2011 and the spring and gasket disintegrated after 5 months. The technician at Vigo said that this was very unusual and sent me a replacement. Five months later, I had the same issue. I spoke to the same technician who could offer no reason for this to have happened two times other than it was probably the soap I was using. Really! I use Dove and Polmolive, not some inferior soap. I have a Delta pump in the other sink and have never had a problem with it. This is a pump of inferior quality. My warranty has run out and I am left with a piece of junk. DON'T PURCHASE!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by EnjoyDIY Bought it in May 2012, bad pump by Dec.
Pumped well for a few months. Then had to prime by pouring soap in the pump when before I could just place my finger in the dispenser hole to prime. Now it looses prime in one hour. Has a metal pump where the gasket seems to loose its ability to seal. My old pump from the same manufacturer was plastic and lasted maybe 5 years. I have always used Dawn dish soap all these years.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EnjoyDIY Manufacturer honored warranty and replaced bad dispenser
I previously reported a dispenser which lasted 9 months. The manufacturer replaced the bad dispenser with another model. This new model has a plastic pump which made me happy because the previous model from the same manufacturer had a plastic pump which lasted more than 5 years. The bad one which lasted 9 months had a metal pump.

All the external parts are metal except for the soap bottle.
Before installing, tighten the plastic fitting at the top of the pump assembly as mine worked its way loose while trying to prime the pump. Also, this unit is not designed for thick
hand creams and thick soaps. If the pump won't prime
try slowing stirring warm water into the soap or cream
mixture to thin it out and then try priming (pumping)
the pump some more. You can try pumping just plain water from a cup to diagnose whether the problem is
with the pump or your soap mixture. If you really need a unit that handles thick hand creams and the gel-type hand soaps then try the units made by LDR that are designed with that in mind. If the plastic parts in this
or many similar units from other manufactures break
then you can try one of the Krause units that are all
stainless but costs 2x as much. The Krause unit still
has the same limitations on priming/pumping with thick liquids. This unit is a good value.

The exterior may be chrome, but the working parts are plastic. Unless you are very careful to push straight down the plastic will soon crack. Home Depot replaced several of these for us, but eventually it was simply too much trouble to replace it every few months.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by cccc I would not buy this again
I like the looks of the dispenser but it keeps losing its prime. I have to keep pressing the pump handle many, many times to get a small amount out of it. Very frustrating! May have to look for another dispenser.

It was a pain to install. Once in, I could not get it to dispense soap with any consistency. The design of the pump allowed the soap to empty from the tube so it needed to be pumped several times to get it to work again but there were no guarentees that the soap would make its way to the top. I returned it.
