The 1.25 cubic feet of Vigoro All Purpose Potting Mix was the ideal growing medium for replanting the potted plants that I had previously winterized in my greenhouse. The soil had an excellent texture and handled easily from bag to new spring containers. The soil drains well and produced roots readily on the clippings I’ve begun to culture. The ration of pearlite bits in the potting mix is just right for keeping the soil from clumping. I detected a few pieces of vine or root material in the mix but was able to extract the few unwanted ingredients with little problem. The PH factor of the soil after it had been potted and watered is exactly what I want for producing the various colors in blossom I have planted. I like the quality of this product and consider it a good value for the average gardener.

Lots of twigs, very little perlite. The bag states it is "Premium," but this is a poster child of poor quality mix.

The past two years my plants have been so badly burned by MG products I won't ever go back. Vigoro 1.25 CF Potting Mix was less expensive, looked OK, seems to be owned by HD and I generally trust the company. But this potting soil is junk. Literally. I have potted four small plants from this bag, and with each one I have had to pick out pieces of trash - black electrician's tape, broken plastic clothing hangers and toy parts. In addition to the rubbish this stuff is full of sticks - as someone else mentioned. The time, frustration and pure yuck factor involved in hand-straining the garbage out of my bag of Vigoro potting soil completely negated the "value" for me. On to the next brand...

I bought this product previously for some planters that I had last year and liked the quality of the soil; it was dark and rich and drained fairly well. This year I bought some more for a new pot, and this bag was very different. The dirt was light colored like regular potting soil, and it had lots of sticks and some plastic bits and other things in it. The soil didn't drain that well at all. So my verdict on this is mixed. I bought a bag of the Kellogg Patio Plus potting mix and liked that better.

Opened up the bag 2day and used about 1/2 bag, smells good and is good to work with. Very nice texture and easy to work with. Best I have worked with in a while

As a horticulturist, I would prefer a bit more perlite, but overall it isn't a bad potting soil. Tends to hold water a lot better than Miracle Grow's and doesn't dry out as fast as MG's. Best "cheap" potting mix I have found.

Lesson on getting what you pay for. Besides the sticks you need to remove before using, your plants/flower beds will then sprout grasses and mushrooms. Now I have to weed my flower pots. Should have stuck with the more expensive brand. A few more dollars for the other is worth not having to spend the extra time dealing with this.

Expected a bit higher qualiity soil, for a potting mix. Had to remove a number of fairly large twigs before using. Seemed quite composty.
