CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fertile Seed - you will not be disappointed in this product...no filler!!! I don't usually leave reviews but this grass seed is better than ANY I have ever put down during summer. Spring and fall are when you seed but I had some areas that I was really working on converting from a garden to yard....granted the soil content was prime but this stuff came up in a week! Sprouted in a few days. Give it water and it will come through for you every time. Getting more now for my fall seeding...not wasting time or money with the other seeds that grow grass that dies out. This is for real! No need for all of that filler that other companies use to say the seed will sprout....this does without any of the science....all natural! July 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good seed Nothing fancy about this seed but it grows like it should! Spread a good layer a large bare patch in my back yard, and lightly raked into the loosened soil, then Spread a little bit more on top for good measure. Watered once a day for about ten mins and like the others, had sprouts within about 4-5 days. Now about 7 days in it is filling out very nicely. I also threw some under a small weeping cherry tree that barely ever gets sun, and that is doing just as good as the open areas August 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fescue Who!! This grass seed is one word..Amazing! I wish I knew about this grass seed sooner. Its only been one week and most of my yard covered with lush green grass about 3 inches tall. I will give it one more week before its first cut. My steps were 1. Brought in 7 cubic yards of top soil 15% Compost 2. Used Scotts seed spreader on setting 6 3. Used Vigoro All purpose fertilizer 4. Watered lawn 3 times a day for 10 minutes @ 4AM, 10AM and 4PM With these steps I had grass shoots in 3-4 days and 3 inches tall in one week. The picture below is 6 days later!! May 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Grows Fast Been using for over a year , zero problems. Save your money on the expensive name brand and buy this seed July 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Results Have used this seed the last two springs and have had great results. Have used in both sun and shady areas June 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to grow and looks great We had 15 trees taken down in the back yard and we were left with nothing but long rooted moss, and also a front and side lawn that had never been taken care of since the house was built 65 years ago. Front and back were a mess so we rented a roto tiller and removed all the moss in the back and tilled the lawn in the front and side. We raked out all the dead roots removed all the rocks and used a roller to flatten and compact the soil. We used a drop spreader and out down lime to adjust the soil also used the drop spreader to put down Vigoro starter fertilizer. After that was done we used the drop spreader with this seed set at 6 and spread it out over front, back and side and then used the roller to go back over the entire surface, we did not put down straw or mulch over the seed and I watered it once or twice a day as needed. Within 4 days it sprouted in places, within a week the entire lawn had sprouts and within 2 weeks we had a full, lush beautifully green lawn. I recommend this seed highly. For the people who were not successful, they must not have followed the directions, it is pretty much seed for dummies. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because it's only been 2 weeks and I haven't seen results over the long term June 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definite Thumbs Up About 5 years ago, we bought a 120 year old farm house. As you can imagine the weeds that filled this lot were unsurmountable. I began stripping the so called "sod" (weeds) at about 1" per section of the yard, which varied in size from 100x100 feet to 40x20 feet. I've tried purebreed varieties, I've tried the standard contractor types for other areas I don't see in day to day inspections. To date, I've tried 11 company products of varying blends and varieties. I have to say this is the best product I've used so far in terms of product and reliability. The grass is a dark green spreading VERY rapidly after germination. This is also at the upper end of the germination scale in terms of speed. I had sprouts in 5 days and a "lawn" in about 2 weeks. I applied a 10-2.6 fert after and it's golden. From scratch to walking, with this seed and fert, took just over 5 weeks and looks GREAT!! May 14, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Garbage The 5 star reviews for this product are ridiculous! I used it to overseed the lawn and it was cultivated in by hand, which nearly gave me heart failure, to assure contact with the soil, and in one small 4'x8' location, new seed which I covered with clippings to hold moisture. All of the lawn was fertilized with Richlawn, being particularly generous with the fertilizer AND seed on the newly seeded portion and the extremely thin, almost bare areas. Water applied 3 times a day, with the ONLY exception being subtracting a hand watering on days when it rained. The ground was not left to dry. I am being extremely generous when I estimate 10% germination rate after 10 days on the newly seeded location, 1% would be more accurate, and finding a sprout in the overseeded portion of the lawn is literally looking for the needle in the haystack. With the amount of time and sweat invested I am beyond disappointed, I am flat out angry! Water bill is going to be outrageous and for what? Photo added of the new area, taken at night with a flash because you can barely see ANY results in full sunlight. I will be returning the small unused portion and going back to Pennington. This is what I get for trying to save a few dollars, 10 days behind in getting roots down before winter and ALL of the work to do over hoping it will be in time. July 28, 2014
