Will the grass only last a year?

I am trying to choose a grass seed to fix my lawn which was ravaged by grubs and harsh sun. I applied Bayer 24 hour grub killer today to kill any gruvs and will also put down GrubEx (its May) to kill the grubs for next season. I want to seed the lawn so it will grow in the spots which the grubs killed but a few articles I read online mentioned that this Vigoro grass had a lot of annual seed in it, which only grows for the year and will need to be re-seeded next year. Is there a better seed I can buy that will not only last one season in the Northeast? (I planted Scotts last year and was very underwhelmed by the percent of the seeds that did not germinate ... and they wriggled out of their 'no quibble guarantee' which means I will never buy another of their products, so no more Scotts seeds for me). Any recommendations would be welcome.

One year later, it survived winter but berly, the grass color is the same as a new grass, the quality is the same, very few and far in between stalks now. It looks like it is all ray grass. It is horrible to maintain and u useless if you want to walk on it. I lost so much energy putting it in.
If you need a fast ground coverage like in a week then yes, but now in the perspective I probably would take this grass and mix it wth some really good expensive grass and that way maybe I would have both? fast grass and the over years grass?
do try small amount first somewhere on tinny patch so you will know how thin it is.
Oh, also, after one year,.. it still grows fast like crazy and not slow and mature way, so if you miss a weekly cutting it will go up to your knee like a weed. Grass does not do that.

This seed is designed to cover fast and allow the perennials in the mix to establish. It is dual purpose- FAST new lawn and a lasting lawn. The answer is It will last longer than a year. In fact it will give you a lawn. If you have predators like grubs you need to use a grub preventative. Harsh sun however can be dealt with a mix that is region specific. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Do it right the first time Vigoro Contractor's Mix has always been my first choice for overseeding, and most recently, for a new lawn after a construction project. Follow the instructions, water it daily (just to get the seed wet, not to drench it), and you'll be amazed in 10 days (see my 10 day photo starting with bare loam). October 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOTS OF GROWTH IN JUST 6 DAYS! I thought it would take me a month of waiting to post this review but look how much grass has grown in just 6 days! Needless to say I am very happy and it is not even planting season. The bag says the best time is spring or fall. The conditions right now are actually not favorable and yet it is really thriving. I do plan on repeating it in the fall under the right conditions. Whether you need some patching up, filling in or just a new lawn, this seed works great. I love that it is a combination of different grasses too. So far the color is a nice rich green and it hasn't even fully sprouted. I highly recommend ! Just follow the directions on the bag. Couldn't be easier! June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by vibrant and growth as expected Here in the MD suburbs close to DC, I planted the grass seed in the cool mid-autumn (Oct 11, temps averaging about 65 for the highs - which is the low end of the recommended temperature to sow the seed), tilling the dirt and mixing in manure with humus, watering it with sprinklers twice a day for 15 minutes, and it green carpet spouted after 7 days. It is a very vibrant green. And with the warm spell in the last 3 days, it has grown a lot. I'll fertilize it again with organic fertilizer after 3 or 4 weeks after initial seeding, and hope that it keeps for the winter. This is good stuff, just make sure you maintain it properly according to recommendations. October 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This seed mix contains 50% Panterra rye grass. It is an annual grass which means it will only grow for one year and then die. If you put this seed down in the fall, in New England, half of it won't come back in the spring so it's a waste of time and money. I didn't realize this so now I have to re-seed in the spring. After some research I read that Panterra rye grass was developed for Texas winters because their summer grass goes dormant in the winter. This shouldn't be sold in the NorthEast in the Fall. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome product I planted this seed on 5/21/2016 and already have a full lawn. I also used the Vigoro starter fertilation with this product and within 4 days the seed started to germinate. I highly recommend this product!!!! June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Seed I've used. Vigoro Contractors All Purpose Grass Seed is the Best seed I've ever used. I worked up the island in front of my house after several attempts to seed had failed. I then thought how do they get grass to grow on construction sites without sod. Then I seen Vigoros Contractor Seed and I tried it. It Worked. I have a beautiful thick plush lawn. It also works great on bare spots and repairs. Great Product. May 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT very easy to use and spread, the instructions on the bag are very clear, after putting seed down, water every day and in a week you should see new grass shoots coming up from the ground! great product October 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reliable seeds I tend to be skeptical of products that "work everywhere in every conditions" but I have used these "contractor" seeds in the past and always have good results. Following winter, my lawn needed some slight repairs. I simply raked a bit, added some compost, seeded, and watered three times a day. After a week, germination is well under way. I regularly buy Vigoro products, such as vegetable and herbs plants, and I am always happy with their products. This is a good size bag of seeds: don't hurt your back! May 5, 2016
