How many square feet does this cover?

Asked by: Jay
how many bags would you need for a 4x4x3 that's 10x20 area

How is this 76.9 cu. ft. for $800? .8 cu ft bags of this product are for ~$6 so 76.9 cu.ft is ~$577..

Asked by: Unam
If you want to pickup this a bag at a time it would be about 100 bags (.8x100=80cuft). So if you have a pickup and have some help loading/unloading, don't mind making a few trips and they have enough in stock, it would be cheaper to buy the individual bags. Looks like they charge over $200 for delivery of the 77cuft bag to your house. Depending on if there is a sale going on.

Does this smell like rubber or is it oderless?

Asked by: buckeyeguy
It smells a little for a day or 2, but in my opinion it smells WAY better than real compost mulch... After a few days it is odorless..

What is the weight of the bag??

Asked by: Movable
If I remember right the invoice said 2,000 pounds, and I don't doubt that was accurate, it took me and a friend and a hand truck (even tried pushing it with my car) to slide it 8 feet into the garage, and that was when it was only 1/4-1/3 full...

Customer Reviews

76.9 cu. ft. Mocha Brown Rubber Mulch is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from No more carpenter ants!! carpenter ants left immediately after replacing existing wood mulch with this rubber mulch, without an exterminator. They were infesting my home. This is lightweight, but will not blow or wash away. Neighborhood boys + rocks = trouble, so this was not an option either. Also, the weight of rocks and spreading them............ Mulch has been down for 2 years now, has not needed to be refreshed at all as most people have to do with wood chips/mulch. Happy to have found this product as it has solved a few problems for me. Initial purchase was hefty $$, but the best option for all of my concerns.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delivery issues for a very good product The mulch is exactly what we expected and it is perfect for the landscaping project we are doing. No complaints at all about the product itself. The problem we had was with the delivery and packaging. We saw that it was bulk mulch, but didn't know it was going to come in one HUGE bag. We had difficulty getting it down the road to our house, so my husband had to drive to the store 45 minutes away to get it loaded on his truck. But, at the loading dock, they had no means to put it on a pickup truck bed. They finally figured it out. But, then we had to get it off the truck at home. Dangerous and difficult. Anyone who orders this for home delivery needs to know how hard this is. Curbside delivery would present a problem for any landscaper to deal with. I wish this product could be sold in 40-50 pound bags and delivered on a palette for easier use by the consumer. This is the only reason for a 4-star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Bag no smell Bag weighs about 2000lbs. Comes in a pallet 4x4 and about 4 ft tall. Has a slight smell but goes away quickly. Looks like real mulch. And water and wind does not move it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Already fading after 2 months We put this down under our child's playset area in May. It has already faded (it's only July). I didn't expect it to keep its original color forever. However, I did expect it to keep it longer than it has. Also, we put grass down around it after it was installed. I am unsure how we are ever going to clean it and get the pieces of grass that have blown into it out. I would recommend putting down two layers of fabric beneath it when using it in a play area. On the plus side, my daughter has fallen on it and was able to get right back up! This is definitely a better option than wood chips or rocks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great! We purchased this mulch to fill the area between our circular driveway and the street - an area that had an unending supply of weeds! The mulch worked great! It was easy to work with and looks fantastic. We look forward to many years of a maintenance free yard! The only negative was the price - yes, it's a lot more expensive than gravel or other choices, but it looks like it will last for years so in the long run I think it's worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beats woodchip When we moved to our new home the seller had put down so much woodchip you wouldn't belive. Trouble was our dog bought bits of wood into the house to chew all the time, added to which the ants were loving it much too much. So we had the gardeners take it all out, and we are replacing it with the rubber mulch. It has been down for over a month now, and I love it. No bits of wood all over my carpets, and much much less mud. Garden looks great, and the best thing is it isnt going to need replacing year after year. Yes big outlay initially, but it will end up cheaper in the end.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy, would buy again in a heartbeat! I debated over this a lot, but in the end, I wanted as close to zero maintenance as possible. This is of course more expensive than regular mulch but it pays for itself and is virtually weed free I have had maybe one or two weeds in a year SERIOUSLY! The only weeds that have come are from the dirt in the potted plants that I installed, no new weeds have come up. The product right out of the bag is shiny and dark but as another review mentioned it fades in a month or so, I actually like that, it looks more natural, and after a month or two the fading stopped. Real mulch looses its luster and this is no different, but again the fading gets to a point and stops. From 5-10 feet away nobody can tell it's not real. And up close everyone thinks it's really cool, especially when you pick a piece up and occasionally find a letter or two from a tire :) It has no smell, bugs don't want to be in it, it doesn't absorb water so plants get more, I even did a section of it where I was having drainage issues and it hasn't overrun since. And best of all I don't have to replace it every year or 2. Size-wise, the smallest pieces are probably about the size of a nickel and the biggest are about the size of two quarters side by side, but most are around 1.5 inches long though. It is easy to shovel with both round and flat head shovels (it's like shoveling base gravel, much easier then larger stone) And it spreads easy with a garden rake like regular mulch would. Any if you have extra you can store it in a rubbermaid type tote or cardboard box in the garage, try doing that with regular mulch... The only reason it is 4 stars is because in the bulk pack it is $10.39 per cu.ft. and you can buy individual bags for $7.46 per cu.ft. I got the bulk pack on sale for $599 AND used a HD gift card I bought from someone at a discount, so wound up paying about $550 total with tax, otherwise it would have been better to buy bags. The free delivery is nice, but if you are buying that much any savings on delivery would be offset by the cost per cu.ft. You could rent a truck and save money buying individual bags... But you do get to keep the pallet it comes on... a bonus for us hobbyist woodworkers :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would buy again - if the stores in my area had any left! The product is great. Bulk delivery is more expensive than the per bag price due to shipping costs being rolled into the total cost, but it is nice to have what you need for an entire project on hand. My plants are thriving now that all of the rain gets through the mulch to them.
