We had this unit for a little over 3 years. It was installed by the contractor with plenty of ventilation. For what you pay for this fridge....it should last a lot longer than 3 years. Oh and be sure to check your warranty....they are fast to drop you off at the curb.

I have had this Vinotemp cooler for less than 2 years and have had numerous problems with it shutting down. I called Vinotemp's customer service and was told to unplug and plugin to solve the problem which I did several times to get it working. The cooler stopped working again and the unpluging procedure did work. This time they said I would have to have a service call and pay for all parts and labor. I reminded them that this has been a problem while under warranty and their response was the part should have been replaced and unpluging was not a solution ever though I was told to do it by their customer service. I asked to speak to a manager and the manager "Nick" said he would review the problem and call back.
That was 2 1/2 weeks ago. I have called back 3 times and "Nick" is too busy to take any calls and does not return the calls. What terrible customer service and a product that is faulty. Save your money and headaches do not purchase a Vinotemp product. I am taking it to the dump.

Love the 2 zone temperature control. Beers are kept cold enough while the wine is kept less chilled. The adjustable shelves are practical although we had to take one out on the beer side in order to accomodate the bottles. On the wine side it is a little clunky in that the wine doesnt slide in and out without having to slightly lift the upper shelf. Once the wine is in the slot, the shelf sits back down. Noise is low. We have ours in a finished basement and it's a great convenience to keep beverages cold without having to fill a cooler with ice or keep running up and down the stairs.

The best feature of this unit is that it's half wine racks, and half shelving for cans/bottles/etc. Unless white wine and champagne are your only cold beverages of choice, you need this fridge. I've seen people trying to cram other bottles and cans into a normal wine fridge, and it just doesn't work. It looks great, and is built solid too.

This is my third VT-36 wine/beverage cooler. The first one stopped cooling after 10 months and was replaced under warranty by another VT-36 which lasted 18 months before it stopped cooling. Why did I buy a third one?!!! Well, it looks great, but more importantly it fits in the under cabinet space I have. I looked at all other units, but the cheap ones did not perform any better than the VT-36 and the more expensive ones were always a quarter inch too high. Already this new VT-36 sounds better (quieter) than the old ones. Hope springs eternal!

This product really should not be distributed by The Home Depot. It's complete junk! When we first installed it in our brand new kitchen with a number of other appliances, it was by far the loudest thing in the room. It vibrated like crazy and sounded like a generator. Vino Temp suggested that we use a yoga mat under it to dampen the noise - laughable!
Now, 10 months later the thing stopped cooling. Customer service is less than enthusiastic. Scheduled a repair company to come out. The repair person had a 4 hour window for an appointment that was scheduled 2 week prior and the guy never showed up. He did call at 3 PM when he was suppose to be out here 4 - 8 and said he is on his way.
So far we have a very expensive and completely useless beverage cooler. Ridiculous.
