Does it kill coloform bacteria?

Does it kill coloform bacteria?
Asked by: Andy
Hello Andy, UV is not recommended if the untreated water has a coliform content exceeding 1,000 total coliforms or 100 fecal coliforms per 100 milliliters. If your water tests under those amounts of coliform, thenn yes the UV will kill it. -GHP Group Customer Support

Will this system eliminate iron ?

Asked by: Gabe
Hello Gabe, the filters in this system do have the ability to filter out iron if the total iron count in your water source is less than 0.3 ppm (0.3 mg/L). To find out the levels of iron in your water source, you'll want to contact your local health department’s environmental health group for consultation. -GHP Group Customer Support

Customer Reviews

Ultraviolet Whole House Water Disinfection and Filtration System is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea but poor execution The idea is fantastic. A filtration system that kills bacteria and also filters the solids out of the water. I have gulf war syndrome and get sick easy from lots of things. Trying to eliminate bad well water as a cause and thought I would try this system. I am very handy. Have help build a few houses. This is tough to install. It's heavy. Needs a lot of space. It's bigger then it looks in the pics. Read the size specs. Once installed. It leaked bad from the silver tube that houses the bulb and the quartz tube. The O rings that came with mine were poor quality. I had to go buy new O rings to get the leak to stop. Ok..Fully installed. I have a green light on the ballast that says it should be working. Also the UV light is glowing blue. Clearly it's working. BUT the red light flashes every 5 seconds or so and makes an annoying buzzing. I try unplugging and plugging it back in. No dice. Try bleeding the system. No dice. Tested the outlet with a volt meter. Within specs. Calls to the manufacturer over a 2 day period and I finally get someone on the phone. They think it's a bad ballast. New one will be here in 5-7 business days. Every morning air is in my water lines. The only thing that was done was the filter system added. Nothing else was messed with. No leaks in the system. Not sure if the replacement ballast will fix it since I won't have it until next week at the earliest. What should of been a 2 hours install has turned into a $300 bill from a plumber and 2 days of troubleshooting on my part and it's still not working. I would recommend trying a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I installed this unit 3 weeks ago .to replace my old one (different brand)....Simple to install with sharkbite (slip-on fittings) and it works great . Compact and well built. I put a bypass on mine so as to make filter changes easier..... I would recomend a UV filter to anyone and everyone...whether you are on well water or city water...avoid bad water at all cost...at this price...it is a lot cheaper than a kidney (that microbs can destroy)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Well designed but. Well designed easy to install but very poor customer service . Parts are very expensive and can only be purchased at a single source. Greenway products . I would not recommend given my warranty and customer service experience I have 3 units which I plan to replace after 3 years. Good luck getting someone on the phone at customer service!
