I will admit the legs were troublesome getting on but we did get them on. We purchased a round cast iron flat skillet and drilled holes in it and cut the handle off and set it in the bottom of the stove to make it a wood stove only. We also drilled some holes in the top of the right front lid to create an air supply and used a pretty glass candle holder to limit the air intake at night while we slept. 98/100 we had coals in it when we got up and did not have to relight it in the morning. We LOVE this stove so much we bought a second one for our new home. The paint does burn off quickly and it will need a new coat of paint after the first year of use. Just buy good quality high heat stove paint and you wont have any trouble making her look wonderful again. This is the best stove we have had and believe me, we went through MANY before finding the right stove for our small home. And I love the fact I can cook on it when the power goes out even in the summer. We simply opened the windows to let the heat out during and after we were done cooking with it. Cant say enough about this wood stove ! Its perfect.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rob It serves the purpose
I guess it was the name that attracted me. (Rancher, not Vogelzang). Cookie wanted a small stove to cook on in case the electric went out. That happens frequently out here on the ranch. It will serve the purpose. I took the advice of another reviewer and plopped the stove out in the middle of the north 40 and lit her up. The stench that came off the unit kept all the varmits away for miles. If I had burned off the paint in the cookhouse, I'd a been in the doghouse for a long time. Now this here stove has a way of warming you twice. The first time is splitting up that tiny firewood that you have to squeeze through the lids. The second is when you burn it. Wish I had better access to soft coal. As far as quality goes, it isn't half bad. Those Chinese must be still pretty new at casting so they build it with a lot of slop in the joints. It is like a coat that fits but only because it is one size too big. Overall, we really bought it for the looks, not for serious heating.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Quality Construction. Could use some improvement in casting legs to fit.
Product could be greatly improved if equipped with hinged door on the lower ash compartment and a back in the ash pan.
Legs did not fit properly and were difficult to install. Grinding edges of some legs and reaming bolt holes was required to get proper alignment and fit.
Lid lift handle does not fit slots in lids.
