Why would we show the back of our new fan? Because we were so taken by its quiet power we decided to see if we could direct it out a window to act as an attic fan might, since we don't have an attic. It worked fairly well this way. Additionally, used as one normally would, it is perhaps the best fan we have ever had. WE HAVE HAD LOTS. We did a lot of research on this fan and heard many compliments. I am not certain why some stores (like Home Depot) do not carry it in stock. This model (the 660) seems to get the best reviews. It seems substantial and so far we are very happy. It does not oscillate, for those looking for that, but it does redirect easily. We considered getting another one while we were certain it was the same product, and not changed in any way. GOOD PRODUCT.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by yeayeayea Powerful but Loud
Very small, lightweight and powerful. Moves a lot of air.
However the only time it is 'whisper-quiet' is when it is off.
If i put it in the another room and have it on the lowest setting, I can still hear it, but then it is quiet enough to sleep. The lowest setting will move the air pretty far. If I am in another part of the house, I can put it on high and it will pull circulate the air pretty well.
However I would not pay $99 for this again. Just too lazy to return it and shop for something similar but cheaper. Also don't know why it has such loud beeps when you turn it on/off.

This air circulator has literally made my life more comfortable. I'm elderly, live in a large mobile home, and both ac's are on their last leg. The heat in my house in the summertime, even with both ac's going, is unbearable. I couldn't do ANYTHING and as I walked thru my house, i felt like I was walking thru mud...So I put the 10" in my living room, on my coffee table, and aimed it above the ac...my living room cooled down from 97 degrees to 86 in a very short time, and I could feel the cool air in my kitchen too. .I was amazed! (still am!) I bought a smaller (6"?) Vornado and put into my long hallway w/ac on in my back bedroom and that works ok, but it works best IN bdrm WITH ac going, but then the hallway is still hot. The high speed noise doesn't bother me, and the other 3 speeds are hardly heard. Both of my Vornados are black plastic but sturdy, cause I've dropped my little one a couple of times and nothing has chipped off.....also easy access for cleaning blades.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LarryB Unbelievable relief in my office
The roof top AC unit has not worked since I bought our business 8 years ago. To replace it would have been apps $15K and there's no windows that open in my office to use a typical vented AC unit. Even thought I've used fans, the heat has been unbearable. People can't stand being in my office, and often I would give up and work from home (though most of the time I need to physically be there).
I used the Lesko fan and others on high pointed to my face, but that didn't help much and papers would fly off my desk. Plus it was so loud it phone calls or conversations were a problem.
After 8 years I decided to try the Vornado. Amazing!!! Now the air instead of blowing directly in my face bounces of the wall behind me and I feel a wonderful breeze of cooling air from head to toe. My office has gone from a miserable place to absolutely cool and comfortable with the Vornado. One of my employees used to say regarding my office "This heat will make you mean." Not any more.
No more fan noise you can't talk over or papers flying either.
One thing worth mentioning is that in the manual it said that there has to be SOME cold air in the room for this to work its best. I found out that there WAS one vent at the very edge of the office that had a trickle of cool air coming out (no doubt from another roof top unit). This was never noticeable unless you happened to stand directly underneath and then just barely. But the Vornado manages to make the most of it circulating it around the office amazingly efficiently.
Long review I know, but I had to write it given the huge problem it solved that I was contemplating spending 10's of thousands to fix. And all those summers of misery I could have avoided if I knew about this great product.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by YarrowRd Upward tilt is a nice feature
Despite the product being well-made and sturdy, it really doesn't do anything. Certainly, it doesn't circulate the air to cool a room, as advertised. I have tried it in several rooms and ventilated areas of the house, but its the same disappointment in every one. Just like the $19 desk fan and the $34 big metal floor fan, it requires you to stand/sit directly in front of it to feel any cooling affect; but unlike those, it helps only a little bit in a 2-ft radius. I'm keeping it more as a novelty for the tilt feature; maybe it will help with moving the air in the house in the winter? If you are looking for a sleek decorative trinket, this is it; if you are looking for something to help cool your house, this is not it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mellee I'm buying two more of these fans. They are very quiet and move a lot of air over a large area.
The fan is lightweight but very powerful. It moves a lot of air over a large area. It has a lot of speds that other fans don't have.
