In a fairly new tight house, these heaters would do very good. They will have the whole room pleasant in just minutes and very quietly done. Our house is nearly 100 and quite drafty whereas blankets hung over doorways move back and forth, but last year we were good with two Holmes Quartz heaters, but they are only good for a couple years...maybe 3. Liked the design and concept of the Vornado. For a hundred or so bucks...though...don't be expecting a big package at your door. Wife was going "Is that it?".
However this little unit moves air and warms it and to me almost feels like central heat, but less dry.
It has only been cool here in Texas so far. The real test is yet to come....but I think they will help a lot.

Used to heat the 225 sq. ft. bedroom of a disabled adult. This heater is much, much quieter than prior heater and the heat is very even with no cold spots. Fan runs continuously and the element intermittantly but no sound change when the heat turns on. Smaller than the prior heater with better thermostat and you can touch it when it is heating. I like it and have recommended it to others living or working in older homes or offices. Have not checked it with the consumption meter yet so can not speak to cost effectiveness but comfort is the main concern and this heater meets the challenge.

I heat my home with wood. I bought two of these for the times when a fire is not needed. Also to help with heat in my upstairs room. I set them on LOW and let them work the heating magic they do. My bedroom stays an even 72 degrees. The times I don't get up to refill the stove. The one on the 1st floor is keeping it at a tolerable warmth when restocking my wood burner. Keep in mind I close off most of the rest of my home during the winter months. If you are looking for something that will save you money and discomfort during winter months with a REASONABLE expectation. These will work. My electric bill is no different than the summer months of running two portable AC units and electric on demand water heater. ($65.00 a month) I just keep the rooms I stay in comfortable.

I live in the Midwest and have used Vornado whole room heaters for the past 3 winters. I turn it on in late October and shut it off in early April. I recently purchased a more expensive brand that had a 5 year warranty. In December, 2010 we had a week of single digit temperatures. The best the other brand heater could do was to maintain the room at an uncomfortable 66 degrees. I saw a display for the Vornado, DVTH model, Whole Room Heater at our local hardware store and bought one. Within an hour of plugging it in the room was a comfortable 72 degrees. With the 5 year warranty on this model I will be warm and cozy for many winters to come.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lisa Great heater!
Our kitchen, dining, and living room are basically one open space. We bought this heater because we live in NJ and our gas bill is killing us. We didnt expect much but the reviews were good, we were pleasantly suprised. I wont say that it keeps the whole space comfortable because it is a large space. It does however keep the living room warm and even semi heats the other 2 rooms. Also in its favor is the fact that my 2 year old is constantly messing with it and has not been hurt or broken the heater, that definitely says something for the quality of the product. My only complaint is the price because I am cheap, but it is well worth the money.

The heat from this heater is not as intense as some, however, the amount of air flow is much greater than any heater I have used. I can feel the warm air even standing 3 or 4 feet away from the heater.

I can not really review this product. I live in Houston, Texas and the weather has been to hot to use the heater for any length of time. I have only taken it out of the box and plugged it in. It worked good and had a good design, I will do another review when it becomes cold enough to use the heater.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joanz does not shut completely down.
I have bought several vornado heaters and they were excellent. Bought my son one and my son in Colorado bought one. If I would of know that the digital one did not shut off after reaching the temperature, you set it on, I would have told my daughter not to buy it for me. I only set it on 66 because it does heat the room but then the cold air blows out when it reaches the correct temperature and may cool the room down a few degrees below 66, before the heat comes back on. I will buy another vornado but not one that does not shut off after it reaches temperature I have it set on. I gave my older one to my friend to use and she loves it. I will probably use this one as a fan in the summer time and see if I can find another one locally.
