I did a lot of research before deciding on purchasing the Vornado ultrasonic humidifier and the reviews were very helpful. I live in Michigan with forced air heat, which sucks all the humidity from my apartment. The humidifier is part of the furniture now. I can breathe so much better! The only critique I have is I wish the top of the water container were flat because I have to set it down in order to screw the mineral cartridge on. And I love the part of label that says 'Made in the USA'!

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Pooch Tank Needs a Redesign
First, this unit works great, is very powerful and helps tremendously with relieving the discomfort of our dry desert air. The unit is very attractive, but that causes a problem. The curvilinear top of the tank is a hindrance in filling it up. You have to invert the very large tank to fill it but since it does not have a flat top, it wobbles in the sink. It would have been better to have a flat top, so when inverted for filling, the heavy tank stays stable. Another alternative, would be to have a simple lid on the top of the tank and you could fill it in-place with a pitcher. That way you would not have to lug the heavy-filled tank across the room and it would be easier to clean.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by dermdd Good experience with the humidifier
We've used an evaporative humidifier in the past. It made a lot of noise and did not do a great job, my skin and nose still felt dry in the winter. This Vornado unit was fairly quiet though not silent. I ran it virtually continuously in an area about 1500 SF for about 7 weeks. I don't have a way to measure humidity but it felt like it did a better job than the evaporative unit.
I never had a problem with leaking. It seams solid and well built, is much more compact and attractive than the large evaporative unit.
One caveat is that we have soft water and an inline reverse osmosis water purifier, and this is the water I used in the unit. Since this is almost like using distilled water you can imagine I had no mineral build up in or around the device. Haven't changed the filter and don't plan to until after another season of use.
I didn't use any of the fancy features, just plugged it in, hit the power button and it cranked away.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Hydrated Where did all that water come from
Placed order online, excellent service, rapid shipment with excellent tracking information. Unit works as advertised and is quiet. Output is cool to very cool with powerful fan. If placed too close it may cause a draft and make you feel cold. Water reservoir may be too heavy for some users when full. Only complaint so far is that it is difficult to move. The tank does not provide any means of moving the entire unit. It must be removed. The base is still rather hefty with water still in bottom of unit. There are no hand grabs on the base anywhere. Unit must be tilted to get your fingers and hand under the bottom and then can be moved. Overall, good unit which may be made better in some ways.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by LouR Product produces too much dust
This was my second unit. The first unit constantly displayed a "Fill Container" modification. The second unit worked properly. The fan is a little noisy, but is not too objectionable on high speed (there are only two settings, high and low (contrary to what is said in the manual). The most significant problem, however, was the amount of white dust generated by the unit. There was considerably more dust generated in my home than outside. Not only did we have to dust the furniture daily, but we could see the particulates in air. I turned off the unit last night and returned it today. Since turning off the unit, the air has been much cleaner and my wife's persistent cough has gone away.
