Hello - What is the difference between the icontrol 1500 watt and the TVH600 besides the TVH600 case is metal and the other is plastic?
Asked by: BobB
The TVH600 Heater has a temperature range of 40° to 90° and an electronic touch screen on the top. There is a remote that links to the heater via a radio signal and if the remote is on, the heater will attempt to bring the room to the set temperature as sensed by the remote. If the remote is turned off, the heater will attempt to bring the room to the set temperature as sensed by the heater. With the remote, you can change the temperature setting on the heater as well as choose "Fan Only", "Low Heat" or "High Heat" , set the timer to shut the heater off after 1 to 9 hours or turn the heater on and off. You must walk up to the heater to see what the settings are as the display on the remote only shows the room temperature. The TVH600 Heater has been discontinued. The IControl Heater has a temperature range of 40° to 90° and is controlled by a knob on the front of the heater or by a remote linked by an infrared signal. There is no display on the remote and the heater will bring the room to temperature as sensed by the heater.

What are the essential differences between this unit & the TAVH10 1500-Watt Electric Whole Room Vortex Portable Heater with RC & Automatic Climate...?

This unit is more expensive than the TAVH10, heats fewer square feet, and the "heating technology type" is convection vs. forced air (which is "less efficient" than forced air, given the Q&A for another Tornado heater). Both units are plastic (vs. metal), have timers, 2 heat settings & fan-only option, a remote control, tip-over switch, over-heat protection, and thermistors (vs. thermostats) for "automatic climate control". Soooo - For the additional price, what essential / important feature does this unit have that the TAVH10 doesn't?
Asked by: LillyJo
Both the IControl Heater and the TAVH10 Heater are forced air heaters. Both use a fan to pull air across heated coils and circulate and warm the air in the room. Both are tested in a 1`6' X 16' room with and 8' ceiling and both use, on high, 1500 watts per hour when heating. Vornado does not make a "convection" heater, all of them are forced air. Aside from a difference in body style, they only difference is the IControl can be set from 40° to 90° and the TAVH10 can be set from 60° to 90°.

Can this heater be used with a ground fault outlet?

I read somewhere that the Vortex heaters could be damaged if used on a ground fault circuit.
Asked by: Pete
GFCI outlets not only protect against ground faults (arcing) but they also provide current limiting for over current. If the GFCI is upstream of another outlet in use, it will limit the output to the heater. The heater will still try to pull enough current to operate and this will cause the outlet breaker to trip. Even if there is no other appliance on the circuit, the GFCI outlet could sense the heater cycling as an over-current situation and trip the breaker. I would suggest you do not use the heater on a GFCI outlet but if you do, be sure no other appliance is on an outlet on the same circuit.

Can you use this under a travel trailer that has been winterized

Asked by: Dee
We suggest you don't use a heater on an RV with an electrical converter or inverter as the heater or inverter may be damaged. We also recommend you do not use a heater in an unmonitored area.

Nowhere in the written instructions, on their website, or by calling customer service is it ever mentioned that you will need to REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE FILM from the display in order to read it. Otherwise the setpoint will be eternally set at 73 and the room temp at 68 because that's what is printed on the film! Once this was solved, the included remote control did not work because it was shipped without the required BATTERY. Customer service told me they would send one two weeks ago and I got impatient and found a GR2025 coin battery that works just fine. Two weeks of ownership and I am well satisfied with the performance of this unit except when the power failed momentarily in the middle of the night and I woke up in a cold room hours later. Other than that, this unit seems to be well made and will hopefully last a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Heater I ordered two of these heaters for emergency, as well as, personal use in our living room. It's compact size, easy and quiet operation, and long run time are impressive. So far, so good and I've been using it everyday at about a 73 degree setting. It's also completely cool to the touch and I have peace of mind that this heater won't cause any accidents or fires. So glad I bought them both and they are highly recommended.

I bought two of these heaters. one was fine, but the fan in the other rattled. However, it worked. i like the features, especially the remote. With the temperature in the low 50s, it took a long time to heat a room which was 8feet by 16 feet. However, it heated the room to the low 60s, the room felt satisfying warm and stayed that way.

It has been completely safe to use around small children and on the low heat setting it is very quiet, especially since it doesn't cycle on and off, the constant low hum is not disturbing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Automatic Heater I have to say I am very pleased with this Vornado device. I own several other Vornado "machines" and am pleased with the function and thought in engineering. First this Vortex heater has a remote control, which allows managing the machine from a distance and from the comfort of your couch or bed. Next there are three functions to choose from, "Fan", "Lo Heat", and "Hi Heat. You can set the parameters for max temperature ( i.e. 75F ) setting then the machine feedbacks on that reading to prevent over heating the space. It is very efficient for a small foot print less than 12 square inches. It easily heats and maintains an area 20 X 20 feet with vaulted ceilings. It also has a pressure button underneath that in the event this device is tipped it has an auto shut off. This is an excellent feature, especially for the kids' room. Definitely a good investment if you do not need to heat up the other unoccupied living space. I shut down one of the main units as a result. As for energy savings, I will have to look at my next energy bill. Definitely recommend this Vornado Vorrtex Heater with iControl.
