Is this safe on ABS plastic?

Wondering if I can use it to spray lube the keys on a computer keyboard, or if the solvent would melt it. Note that I'm lubing just the plastic keys and holes. Not the membrane, or electronic parts. I tried applying petroleum jelly with cotton swab, but it's tedious and does not last long.
Asked by: AvgJoe
Answering my own question just in case someone else is thinking about doing the same to their keyboard. I have tried it on my keyboard. This WD-40 Specialist Silicone lubricant appears to be safe on ABS plastic. However, even though I gave it a generous dose of spray, it was too thin to be effective. In other words, wrong lubricant for the job. I ended up using silicone grease. The application is as tedious as using petroleum jelly, but not as messy/sticky. I'm hopeful that the silicone grease will last much longer than petroleum jelly.

WD-40 Specialist Silicone was applied to my snowshoes and the snowshoes of two of my friends during a recent snowshoeing trek in the southern Colorado mountains and snow that was clumping up on snowshoes of other people did not stick to our shoes. This product worked well in this situation and was clean to use and remove from the shoes after use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gliding Patio doors Works great on the medal tracks the doors slide on. Helps clean the rails and helps the door glide smoothly. Also found great to use with a rag on the rubber gasket that separates the door, prevents the rubber from sticking.g

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Use it for Scooter maintenance I brought it for lubricating rubber components for my scooter. Here is my experience with this product. 1) lubricating properties is good and lasting. 2) doesn't swell rubber like oil base lubricant. 3) does help in preventing bolt and nut from rusting but don't expect miracle in tropical environment. 4) doesn't dry in seconds as advertised. Days later it still wet. Might be the silicone oil left behind. 5) smooth out my scooter brake master cylinder piston when it get rough. 6) use to prevent rust for battery terminals and bolt and nut. 7) use to prevent front fork and rear suspension from squeaking. If you need a dry silicone spray, look elsewhere. If a good and slow drying lube that is safe on rubber is what you need, you can look into it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great in the cold! I applied this to my ancient roll-down gate tracks at my warehouse in the freezing (13 degrees F) Brooklyn winter. The day before I sprayed it on, I almost broke my back trying to pull the gates up and down. Afterwards, I had no problems. I would usually use a thick lithium grease and brush to lubricate the tracks, but this took less than 3 minutes and worked just as well! Way to step it up, WD40!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome, simply Awesome I work on the bay with salt water as a bulkheader/dock builder, and our pulleys get stuck and start to rust. Without WD40 we would not be able to do our job. Thanks WD-40 for a wonderful product.
