Product Overview

Remember when your scroll saw could cut in two different directions? Take on the most intricate and artful cuts with the WEN 16-Inch Variable Speed Two-Direction Scroll Saw. The 9/16-inch stroke saws through hard woods up to two inches thick. Adjust the speed anywhere from 550 to 1600 strokes per minute with the simple turn of a knob. The cast iron base prevents vibration and walking during operation while the spacious 16-by-11-inch table bevels up to 45 degrees for angled cut. I also need a stand for this saw. What would you recommend?

Asked by: tommy
To the best of my knowledge there is nothing on the market designed as a stand for this one, but here is a perfect excuse to make a little shop cabinet for it.

what length blades does it use and what is the best for fine cutting such as letters?

Asked by: professor007
2 5" blades are included. A spiral saw blade would probably be best for fine detail work.

1.2 Amp 16 in. Variable Speed Scroll Saw is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 103.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice little saw my wife got this for me as a gift 2 years ago. never heard of a scroll saw before, so obviously, I'm a novice with it. jump forward 2 years (and a few YouTube videos for inspiration on what to do with it), and my first attempt at a project with this handy little saw was a HUGE success. very easy to use and also very easy to unhook and rehook the blade (Olson 5" pinned blades work very well with this saw). only complaint that I would have is that it will vibrate all over unless you have it mounted. adding a pic of my first project just so you'll be able to see what a first timer can do with this quality saw.

I have no benchmark for this review. I am rather pleased with this saw. It has a LED light, blower, dust port and even little compartment for spare blades etc. it comes with 3 blades, two with pins and one pinless. it does vibrate time to time. Manual recommends bolting it to the table but the cuts I made were done without it. It is easy to change blades with a pin. I haven't used pinless ones yet and I don't think I will. Blower is quite helpful in removing sawdust from the workpiece. Dust port helps removing big part of sawdust, but not all. However, due to the very thin kerf, this saw doesn't produce much of a sawdust. Maybe I should hook it up to the bigger shopvac. I used my small, secondary one. Light tends to vibrate and if it shines on the upper blade holder you will get a stroboscope effect. The blade holder is chrome or nickel coated and very shiny. Rubber band solves the problem though. It keeps the light in place. I wish the arm for this LED light would be an inch or two longer though. There is a dial to regulate the speed of the saw. I just use it on the maximum speed. Slower speeds might be handy for sharp turns. It wasn't too difficult to control the cuts, even though I have no experience yet. I can't say I haven't ever made a off line cut, but errors were small and fixable. I cut some numbers for the clock with it (see picture), some patterns in 1/3" thick poplar and even resaw little block of walnut (about 1/2 x 2 x 5"), which took a while and I broke the blade at the end. Nevertheless I was able to do it. In general pretty good tool, I would say for competitive price. I can't talk about machines longevity yet, as I owe it for only 2 weeks and worked on it for about 2-3 hours.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall a good buy Dollar for dollar this is a great entry level saw. Only complaint I have is it becomes very time consuming changing cutting locations on a detailed piece using a spiral blade. Takes some getting used to, the proper blade tension so as to not pull the blade from between the set screws when using pinless blades.

This is my first scroll saw and I don't have anything to compare it to, but I am comfortable using it and I am learning quickly with it. I would certainly recommend it for first time scrollers. I tried adding a video. Not sure if it went thru.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sufficient Top is smaller than I would like and the blades are difficult to change out. The light is a nice touch and speed variable is ok. The dust exchange is right in your lap so that part is bad. And dust blower does not keep dust off like it should.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wen scroll saw Newbie to scroll sawing. Love the saw, only issue is with pinless blades. Having trouble with them staying locked in the jaws. Other than that I like it. I'm using pinned blades and it's doing great. Great beginner saw

It is well made and easy to use I've never used one before and was able to use it on a project without reading directions. That is not usually the case.
