Remember when power tools were actually powerful? WEN’s 12-Inch Variable Speed Drill Press is a powerhouse for your shop. This bench-top, cast iron drill press has the power to drill through metal, wood and other materials. Max drill capacity is 5/8 in. and 1 in. thick cast iron. The variable speed feature allows you to target in the exact speed (infinitely from 580-3200 RPM) that works for your project. While you are working you simply move a lever and adjust the speed as needed. No pulleys and belts to change! Our design uses a mechanical variable speed which allows for the same power and torque through the entire speed range. A digital readout powered by LED’s displays the running speed. Constructed with a rigid frame consisting of cast iron ensures accurate holes. Its powerful induction motor features ball bearings for an extended life and smooth and balanced performance even at high speeds. The 5/8 in. chuck with MT2 spindle taper gives you versatility with a variety of bits and features on-board chuck key storage, so you never have to hunt around for it. Worktable bevels 45 degree left and right for those tricky operations for the perfect right angles. Base has predrilled holes for mounting onto a bench or work stand. Slotted table allows for mounting clamps and vises for effective mounting. The X-pattern laser locks-on to your drill points saving on guesswork and sparing expensive materials. Remember when you could drill with laser precision? Remember WEN.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WOW.... What a Surprise! Having never heard of the Wen Brand, (and there not being any reviews on this item) I had nothing to go by but the word of the expert at our local Home Depot. I was in need of a drill press and the local Home Depot is the only place in town to get one, so I trusted the expert and got a big surprise. Following the assembly instructions was extremely easy. There was even a few steps of the assembly that was already done for me when I pulled it out of the box (so it did save me a little time and work). Now that I have it all assembled, I am ready to power up my new drill press. It runs extremely smooth and quiet with virtually no vibration. Changing speeds is made easy with just a turn of the handle (no need to change the belt position like most drill presses in this price range). I have only used it to drill a few holes to see how it ran, one was a 1 3/4" Forstner Bit. I can not express how impressed I am with my new purchase. I will post more at a later time when I get more use out it. If you have doubts about this drill press because you have never heard of the Wen Brand you can rest easy with this one. I have no doubt (at this time) that this machine is a good quality and will last me a lot of good years! March 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great deal! I bought this machine specifically for the speed control. I mainly use it to mix glazes and coatings for my business. Not having to change the belts to regulate the speed is a huge plus for me. Starting slow and then adusting RPM's as needed makes this machine worth its weight in gold. I couldn't find any other press at the same price point that offers this advantage. Very simple to assemble...instructions were concise and easy to follow (in English, I might add). I use it occasionally for woodworking and drilling porcelain tiles as well...more than enough power. I am very happy with this purchase. December 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great drill press This is the best value for the money I found. While it is more expensive than the low end presses I was looking at, the features and quality are well worth it. The one must have feature is this press allows you to change speeds without opening the top and resetting belts manually. This alone is a huge feature. It has a digital speed read out, the laser is accurate, no wobble to speak of, very well made and it is a heavy duty press and I love it. September 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Product First off I purchased this for house hold projects; by no means do I classify myself as a carpenter. I was a little reluctant to order this online, because I am the type of guy that has to play with all the buttons and handles first. When I received it I was surprised at the quality of materials they use to manufacture the drill press. Durable plastic housing and a rigid frame that it sits on. Some assembly required that might need a second look at the directions, but over all quite easy. Performance wise, I like that I can change the speed of the press by a simple lever; even in mid operation. I love the digital speed readout. The laser is ever so slightly off the mark. I would recommend this tool. May 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Drill press is a great tool for the price Purchased the drill press to drill for euro hinges and it worked great. The chuck has a little wobble. I wish the slow speed was about half of what it is, and the table had the slots parallel instead of in a diagonal for custom made fences. The drill press was very easy to assemble. The variable speed control works smoothly with the digital read out, and the built in light is helpful. July 20, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poorly constructed and thought out. purchased thru HD. First month or so operated ok. Then my pen blanks began wollowing out and, figuring it was pilot error, its a new press, right?? I bought and fabbed up different blank holder thinking I wasn't clamping it down tight enough. Well, it was the quill. Great Lakes technology send me a new quill, worse. When I had the head apart I could see why it becomes wollowed out after a few uses. The casting of the drill head support the quill from side to side and when that wears its done. They installed this silly little adjustment screw which gives about an 1/8 of a turn ...useless. Attempted to return it to HD and it was out of their warrenty period...shoulda just never bought a wood working tool from HD to perform my Craft...they just don't measure up. I left the drill press at HD. My relationship with WEN, Great Lakes tec and HD ended there . ( how did I end up dealing with GLT?? I bought it AT and FROM HD) July 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good drill press for price This not a top tier, heavy duty, high quality drill press - but for price it is a good drill press and very user friendly and useful. Speed control is via manually lever controlling variable ratio cone-pulleys and works reasonably well - the digital RPM read-out is nice to have. Rapid speed changes are very convenient when boring large holes that require pilot drill and one or two intermediate drill bits - each with substantially different speed requirements. Large bits require gentle feed, particularly when boring mild steel, as the small motor can stall very easily if asked to bite off too much - but it will get the job done. But if most of your work is with smaller bits or in softer material, this drill press will work very well. February 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Drill Press Easy to set up, have only used it for one major project so far but worked up to my expectations. Only took about 30 minutes to set up. Was able to assemble by my self, the head was a bit heavy but manageable. It is large enough that I will make a bench to mount it on. That way I can move it around in my garage. July 14, 2015
