I agree with the other reviewers...it would be nice to have another pad. However, as for painting, it worked quite well. I had to turn it backwards in order to get directly up to a straight edge; so take some time to practice how to use it. Also, don't walk away from it without turning the control knob closed...like I did! DUH! I was pleased at the ease of cleaning the base, but not surprised that the pad was not. It's like cleaning a roller...which is almost impossible.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by erj1177 The Wagner Deckmate does seem to be much quicker than using a regular hand brush, however the pad tends to wear out quickly. I was upset that the replacement pads are very difficult to find, as they are often not sold in stores. When I finally found one online, I was frustrated that after purchasing a 20.00 machine, I then had to pay another 12.00 after shipping for a replacement pad, that would quickly wear out again.

Worked really well with practice. I even used a solid stain. I bought 4 extra pads at Home Depot for $3.98 each and only used 2 of them. Did my deck, father in laws deck, told friends about it and they had similar results.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Weasel Great Idea, Poor execution
When we bought this product we thought, "What a great idea, this should be a snap." Well, 1/2 a deck later the pad gave out. The first half looked great and was easy to do just wished the pad was better quality or came with an extra pad in the box. My 4" brush did just as good a job but not as fast.

The deckmate is good and easy to use. But needs to have more than one pad with it. We didn't get half way done before the pad gave out.
