Customer Questions & Answers

Wagner Heat Gun

Aside from the controls this thing offers, how is it different from a Hair Dryer? There are 1800 Watt hair dryers available. Why would I buy this instead of one of them?
Asked by: Anonymous
The hair dryer is designed to move a lot more air past the heater so the air doesn't get as hot as the heat gun. The heat gun is designed to provide very hot air close to the end of the gun for melting or heating a small work area i.e. scraping paint, melting shrink plastic, welding plastic, loosing bolts, etc.

How do I turn it off ?

Wheres the turn off button????
Asked by: Romio
The gun has a cool down mode after using and the gun will go off automatically when it has properly cooled down. This will prolong the life of the heater and prevent overheating and melting the gun. After using press the power button again and it will enter the cool down mode.

Does this heat gun come with a set of nozzles?

The online manual says "it may or may not" come with nozzles. Various nozzle shapes would be helpful.

I ran the heat gun at the 350 degree setting for about 5 minutes. It worked fine; so I put it away until I had the time to spend on the project. Unfortunately, that 5 minutes of use was all that I got out of it. When I next went to use the gun (to melt the solder pad under an IC chip), it wouldn't heat up very much - even after turning the heat up repeatedly. I tested the temp of the nozzle with an infrared thermometer, and it read 96 degrees on a setting of 950 degrees - even after running at that temp for 3 minutes! I set the gun temp on the highest setting (1350 degrees), and the highest temp at the nozzle only reached 250 degrees. Needless to say, I couldn't even melt the solder at that temp; but, it was able to crinkle some plastic wrap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One smart gun This is my first heat gun ever and I am very happy to own it. I got it so I could dry the paint with this gun after running some cables through drywall to get the instant satisfaction of the project done fast. The capability of this tool is way beyond drying the paint. It works great in removing floor covering or paint, drying the paint or plaster, heating frozen locks or water pipes, loosening rusted locks, molding/bending plastic and even defrosting refrigerator. Temperature control ranges from 250-1350 and User Manual does a great job explaining the temperature guidelines in various situations. I took a picture of temperature guidelines from my phone so now every time I use the gun, I just open the picture in my phone, quickly see what the temperature should be, it’s very convenient. It looks stylish, easy to use and easy to store. Automatic trigger of COOL air after every use is a good safety feature. It comes with glass protector and flare nozzle attachments. You can buy scraper tool with interchangeable blades as additional accessories to further extend the usability of this tool. I highly advise to wear gloves when working with it. One smart gun accelerating your project pace in so many scenarios is a great buy at such a low price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Useful Tool The HT3500 is made of the same high quality you'd expect from Wagner. It’s simple to use, with its digitally controlled touch-pads and has a cooling feature that cools itself and turns off once you’re done. There are twelve different settings for the temperature, giving you a very wide range of options. And two attachments to direct air flow in the way that suits your task. I have a utility room adjacent to my carport that needed painting and has some cracking and peeling paint. I don’t mind painting, but hate to scrape paint. The HT3500 cured that. With the Wagner in one hand and a scrape blade in the other, the paint was coming off quickly and easily. It was like shaving chocolate. Very impressive! I also removed some paint from my steps. Heat it up and scrape it off. Being in the utility room reminded the wife that we needed to defrost the chest type freezer. The HT3500 cleared the ice quickly from inside and within a few minutes, we were loading everything back inside. The wife had used one of her hairdryers in the past, but the Wagner sped this task along. Next up is the removal of some vinyl flooring. This is one of those tools that once you have it, you realize what you’ve been missing and how much easier things are to do with it. Like removing more paint than you would have initially, because it’s so much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Satisfied Purchase I bought this product for small jobs only. I don't intend to use it as a commercial jobber or anything more than short and sweet household jobs. However, I have used this on reshaping pvc tubing, acrylic sheets, and heat shrinking outdoor wiring projects, drying paint and peeling wallpaper off and certainly met or exceeded my expectations. There are a couple of things about this heat gun that are somewhat annoying. 1) Keeping it upright when I just want to put it down for a minute or so before picking it back up to use again, 2) Not actually knowing what temperature is actually at the nozzle but aside from that, it's a very nice heating tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Push Button controls. Wagner Heat Tool (Heat Gun) has a lot of settings that allow you to adjust heat from low to high speed and from 250 degrees to 1350 degrees. A total of 12 steps of temperature allowed. The all-digital push-button control allows for quick and easy settings, and LED's show you which temperature you have set. The set comes with two accessory tools; the glass protector and the flare nozzle. I used the glass protector to remove old glazing compound from a window, allowing me to replace the glass pane. I also used this to soften bathtub caulking to allow easy scraping and removal of the caulk. Once the tile and grout were cleaned, the tool dried the area thoroughly, allowing me to recaulk the tub quickly without a lot of waiting for the area to dry out. Quite a time-saver. There are of course, dozens of other uses for this tool. Some minor concerns: 1. There is no way to wrap the cord up; 2. There is no case or bag so no way to carry accessories; 3. Tool does not come with Concentrator Nozzle which to me, was important.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lifted tile really well. Set Temp. on 450-550 and fan on HIGH and was able to lift the tile easily with a 2 1/2" putty knife. Turned itself completely off twice. Otherwise it was a gem

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Innovative features and excellent functionality I do a lot of woodworking and a heat gun is very nice to have. It gives you a little extra time with your glue and prevents certain types of finishes from setting up too quickly. I like this a lot. The temperature settings are much more accurate than a simple dial. The Cool setting is really nice as well. I did use this to strip some outdoor paint from my deck in prep to resurface. I was a little concerned about the plastic construction and it getting shuffled around a bit, but it help up quite well. It's also very light weight which makes those big jobs not as painful (literally) I noticed in other reviews that people complaining the gun would shut off during use. I never experienced that unless I specifically selected the "cool" setting - in which it is supposed to shut down when it reaches the proper temp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight and very hot I bought the gun for an unusual project of welding TPO roofing. I like the adjustable heat settings and the light weight construction. It seemed to perform well for what I needed. It was hot and light weight making it easy to use.
