Answer:
The filters should be checked before every use. If they are excessively dirty and look like they cannot breathe then they should be replaced. If you are spraying latex paint you can let the filters dry and then rub them together between your hands which should flake off some of the dried paint. If you have any further questions please feel free to call technical support.

I have the same question, but I've done some experimentation in the mean time that might be of use. I have the same question, but I've done some experimentation in the mean time that might be of use. So I initially was using white and cream colors with my spray gun, so I didn't notice how quickly paint builds up on the pass. (Incidentally, I also didn't realize how quickly it builds up in my nasal track either... Wear a breathing mask.) It becomes very apparent once you start using stronger colors. So far I've rinsed out my filters twice after three or four applications over a day or so of time. I've rinsed them under the sink tap, using my thumbs to gently rub the little paint ridges that develop until it's all last smooth. I then stick them in the grate of one of my large fans to dry them out quickly. They've held up alright so far, but even with being gentle, the pads have started fraying pretty badly. Also, the deep red paint I'm using at the moment is staining a significant amount of the interior od of the pad, though that might just be color, not particulate. I suspect I'll be able to get three or four more rinsed out of them in this manner. One thing you might try is rising them out after each application to see if that is less rough on them. Read Less
