Answer:
No the PaintREADY System is not an airless sprayer. It is a multi-use HVLP unit - High Volume Low Pressure. It will operate with much less pressure than an airless pump.

How well does this work for restaining a fence or deck furniture?

I'd like an answer from someone who's actually stained a fence with this product-was it pretty easy to do? Good coverage between slats? Did you have to follow up with brush or roller?

For deck furniture I usually use the stain with the polyurethane together.

I have primed and painted a fence and never used a brush or roller. I have painted the entire outside of my barn and shed twice with an HVLP sprayer. One of the best purchases I have ever made.

Answer:
The PaintReady System can definitely handle spraying fences and decks. However, getting into the gaps with any type of sprayer is going to be difficult. Depending on the gap, getting a brush in there is likely the best way, but if you’re spraying both sides of the boards you’ll probably get enough material into there without it.

I'd like to repaint all my interior ceilings without having to move ally my furniture and cover everything in the home with drop cloths. Would this work well or should I consider a roller options instead? Also, how well does this handle edge painting? I am assuming I'll need to work with a shield prevent spray onto walls of another color.

Answer:
You're going to want to do a lot of masking. Overspray is an issue. You can mitigate the issue by fiddling with the pressure and amount of material but it will be risky.

PaintREADY System HVLP Paint Sprayer Kit is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product, Works as Advertised! I bought this sprayer to paint some motorcycle bodywork. I've only used it once, but, I'm very happy with it. Since I was working with automotive paint, I only used the small gun, and sprayed 2 coats of a 2K urethane primer, 2 base coats. and 2 clear coats. The guns are very easy to operate and clean. Once I got the material flow rate dialed in, the finish came out really nice. There's only two knobs to worry about on the small gun, an air speed, and a material flow rate. I was also surprised at the lack of overspray with this gun. I would recommend this product to any DIYer who doesn't want the hassle of buying a big bulky air compressor. This thing is very compact and easy to transport. I love the built in gun holder too, it's very convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great painting system! Bought this unit in November 2012 and have used it 3-4 times a week since then! It is simple, easy to use and easy to clean up. I have ordered spare canisters and spare air filters for it and they're inexpensive. The unit is well made and durable. It has a super long hose where i can work all over the shop without moving the power unit! It works better than I had anticipated. I give this unit from Wagner 2 thumbs up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great with Latex Paints too! I used this to paint/stain a 6' wood fence. I did not have to thin the latex paint before use and I had absolutely no problems spraying a nice coat of paint on the fence. This is a great sprayer for the occasional DIY'er like me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good sprayer I replaced an earlier generation HVLP paint sprayer and find the decision to buy new rather than patching the old one an excellent decision. The new model performs far better than the previous model with more controls for pressure and material. I really like it. It feels good to have bought something that does what I want. It isn't real expensive and it works real well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pipe fencing We had over 2,000 lineal feet of 2" steel pipe fencing to paint with automotive paint. We delayed the project for a year knowing how much work it was going to be and how unpleasant. Our research said spraying was going to be a huge waste of paint and using a painting mitt was going to be a huge pain. So we took a chance on the Wagner HVLP. We're so glad we did! We spent one afternoon using a degreaser/cleaner and power washing. The next afternoon we started spraying. It took 7 hours, but the job is done. The Wagner never quit, it sprayed evenly, and we used a total of 2 gallons of paint. We figured we would need a second coat but the whole project looks great so we're not going to do another. Cleanup was a breeze as well. We're novices so it took a bit to figure this out - have a clean paint can or other container with a lid handy. Do your thinning and mixing in the clean can and then use it to fill the spray cup. We had everything set a low pressure/low volume and we had to refill the cup about every 20 minutes. Our down time was only about 30 seconds since the paint was already mixed and ready to go through the strainer into the cup. One more thing - all the paint was applied by a woman. We're so happy with our results!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to setuo and use. Used sprayer to prime and paint ceilings. Easy to setup, used a 4' x 4' piece of cardboard to adjust flow. Strained latex paint through strainer and didn't thin the latex paint. Only problem was to remember to clean paint buildup from around nozzle occasionaly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hopeless Sprayer. I have used quite a few different sprayers. I picked this one up for small jobs like painting porch railings. Using extremely high quality, freshly made and shaken paint (SW Superpaint), the best that could be managed with this unit was heavy spatter, despite plenty of attempts to adjust, and as a final measure, thinning the paint. I had to follow over it all with a brush, wasting quite a bit of time. It might be good for people who have never used a high quality sprayer, and do not mind brushing/rolling afterwards, but it is your best bet if your goal is to turn quality paint into overspray, and leave it looking bad. Skip this unit. It's going back to the store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Two for the price of one This outfit is pretty good. It does spray a fair amount of paint in a short order. Have yet to use the white sprayer for heavy latex, but I do see where the canister is using some compressed air to apply some pressure on the paint to help it come out of the spray head. The air hose is friction fit into both the turbine and the spray guns, this is my only true concern for now to see how long it will stay put as time goes by. For the cost, I am sure it would not hold up under heavy use. But for the average use around the home, I think it should handle the task just fine. Nice to be able to spray with out the restrictions I have when using my air compressor.
