Can I use this to apply a stone sealer?
Asked by: Michele
Some sealers recommend that it be applied with a brush, roller, or pump sprayer. The Power Stainer may spray it but it may not give you the finish you want. If you would like to call us at 1-800-328-8251 with the manufacturer’s application recommendation we will assist you.

Our Wagner line of sprayer can spray material that either cleans up with mineral spirits for oil-based or warm soapy water for water-based. They are not able to handle any solvents. Please contact our technical support staff at 1(800)328-8251 if you have any other questions or needs.

Customer Reviews

Power Stainer 5.4 GPH Paint Sprayer is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 94.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just follow the directions Picked this spray painter up a few days ago, and though I've only given it one run, it works just fine. Assembly is easy - just follow the instructions. I've seen a lot of reviews about this painter leaking, or spitting gobs of paint, but I haven't had any leaking or spitting (except when the paint cup is running low, but that's to be expected). Overall great product for smaller jobs, and convenient in not having to thin latex paint. The only downside is that cleanup is very meticulous, but paint cleanup always is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value/Time Saver I bought this sprayer for repainting my exterior trim (fascia, soffets, gutters). Some of this was spraying overhead and at awkward angles. It worked great, covered well, and the exterior latex paint cleaned up easy enough. One word of advice, purchase Flotrol or the Wagner equivalent to add to the paint, it thins it slightly and makes it spray easier without effecting the coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You get out of it what you put in. I have read a lot of these reviews and compared them to my personal experience with the product I have to say it does the job very well. You need to understand your not just grabbing this tool off the shelf and loading it up with paint and shooting. Preparation is just as important (actually more important) then actually painting. Hot water and soap makes for an easy clean up. The device comes apart in a very logical manner and goes back together the same way. The coverage is great and yes you will get a quick splatter when you reach the end of the tank. But guess what, take your finger off the trigger, get a brush and wipe it. Not the end of the world. It dries without any difference of the rest of the piece.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money Very disappointed in this sprayer. It worked for maybe 5 minutes then just quit spraying. Took everything apart and cleaned each part and when I put it all back together now all it does is just hum.....Spend your money on paint brushes it will take a little longer but less hassle....Another Made in China piece of junk

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool for the price Own this gun for about 2 years. So far not problem at all. Painted my deck in about 30 mins. Garage also less than 1hr. It's a little messy while refilling the container but for me is not an issue. Personally think that is very easy to use and clean it, and I'm not a Pro or painting-lover. Container should be a bit bigger.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It did the work, but with a mess. This product for the price is average. You can paint fast, but it will let you with a lot of cleaning to do. I like it because it painted fast and is was easy to assemble. Recommended for small jobs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Motor burned up after two hours and four gallons of stain I used a cheapie Wagner 20 years ago to stain about 250 feet of board-on-board 6 foot fencing. I had to refill the container every 10 minutes, but that little sprayer got the job done. So to re-do the same fence, I picked up a Model 0525037. It was brand new out of the box and I had oiled it before starting. It delivered about the same quaility of service as the old one, but I had sprayed less than four gallons of stain when the motor started smoking. It's done. Kaput. Finis. Toasted. What a piece of junk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Piston Stuck due to poor instructions in the manual Following the cleaning instructions in the manual for acrylic paint will result in a seized piston, as this portion of the manual fails to mention anything about removing and cleaning this part. Paint will dry in it and "simply remove" is the advice... impossible advice, I might add. Once the piston is stuck, no amount of pulling and tugging at it will remove it. There is nothing "simple" about removing the stuck piston. I did a lot of googling to try to find a _real_ solution. Fixya says if this occurs "good luck with that". Most folks have sworn off the Wagner after this has happened, as there seems to be no way to fix it and the part is junk if it can't be unstuck. The replacement part is so expensive, one is more likely to replace the whole unit with another brand. Pulling and tugging did nothing but cramp the hands and cause frustration and some foul language. Someone mentioned WD-40. No go. Since there was nothing to lose, tried soaking in brake fluid. Nadda. Finally, after an entire day of fighting with the confounded thing tried boiling it in a pan of water. This worked! If your piston has stuck and you're ready to chuck the thing, you've got nothing to lose. Put it in a pan and boil the heck out of it! Took about 15-20 minutes on this one. Give it a go and pass on the info. So many frustrated folks from this being told it's "operator error" when the error is in fact in the omission of the need to clean it in that part of the manual. Whomever wrote that thing should have to try to pry every single piston that's ever stuck on any customer's paint gun by hand and not be allowed to quit until they've fixed them all or admit they messed up!
