Customer Questions & Answers

can I spray a polyurethane with this sprayer

can I spray a polyurethane with this sprayer
Asked by: judy
The Power Painter Plus will spray polyurethane if it cleans up with water or mineral spirits. If the polyurethane is thin it may spray out more than you want it to since it puts out about 2,400PSI. You may want to turn the pressure down. Please feel free to call us at 1-800-328-8251 if you have any further questions.

Sprayer cleaned after 1use - now doesn't spray

How do I fix sprayer to use it again? Sprayed stain on fence and cleaned per directions, but won't spray out nozzle any longer. Use it 1 time.
Asked by: Cricket93
Check the little orifices in the tip or replace it with a new one. It's the little spring loaded item inside the spray tip. Needle or small paper clip works. You should have another one that came with the sprayer. If not Home depot has them

what do I use to clean this sprayer

Asked by: 2wheeler
I used simple paint thinner and had no problem with clean up. I thinned it out a little and ran it through the input to get internal parts clean too.

The sprayer worked well over multiple days. Upon reading some people had issues with it after the first spray, I tried to mitigate that by being VERY thorough in cleaning process. It does take some time to clean the sprayer, so be prepared and clean it right after you are done painting. However, I completely re-painted my shed in ~4 hours (including two cleaning sessions and hand painting trim). This would have taken me at least 12-18 hours if done by hand. It does overspray, but you can mitigate that by starting in the middle and working your way out as you get a feel for how wide/high it shoots. It will still overspray but just less if you are careful. Would definitely recommend putting out a tarp if you care about the things around it. The sprayer felt well built and I had zero issues operating it or cleaning it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from a keeper tool! I am a DIY from way back and one thing I have learned through the years is. The quality job always done with quality tools. So I had a restoration job on a small house and no time or help to get it done. painting became a problem to the rest of the project. when i found this sprayer I was taking a chance because it was inexpensive. I have had it three years and have used it on twenty or so projects. It is unbelievable the different applications this has been used for. The one thing they do not talk about enough is the ability to spray thick paint. latex is hard on sprayer. Most painters spend tons on this and have to water down paint to spray or put in stuff to soften the flow. in effect change the paint. A home owner is not going to get into that. They should not get into that! This thing has saved me literally hours of prep time, dry time and ,labour time. i actually enjoy playing with this. My daughter is famous for calling me to paint something off the clock for her. I think ill buy her husband one for Christmas!

The name on this item is very misleading "STAIN Plus" should probably be PAINT Plus maybe stain. This is not a good STAIN sprayer. I purchased this product a my local Home Depot to stain a table, figuring it would save some time and give me a more consistent finish. This unit puts out way too much stain which uses a tremendous amount of product and causes pooling. Half of the stain ended up on the ground. There is no way to dial down the volume other than the switch in the back that you can vary between PAINT and STAIN. I had it set as far as I could go on the STAIN side. Don't make the same mistake I did. Unfortunately I will not be able to carry it back since I used it once -- $106 wasted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets he gets the job done - fast! Bought this to stain approximately 1000 sq ft of fence and got the job done in just a few hours. Sprays a lot of stain with a lot of overspray so mask well what you don't want stained. Sputters when you run out of stain which is annoying and you can't really see the amount of stain left, so it's hard to avoid. Have a brush handy so you can even these out. Mine quit the last few feet, so I had to finish by hand. Put it down for one minute to refill the cup, something I had done many, many times, and when I picked it back up to finish, nothing. No sound, no spray, nothing. Took it all apart like instructed and cleaned thoroughly. Now it seems to be working so not sure if it just overheated or what.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dissatisfied After reading both giid and bad reviews I decided to give it a try as it seems so easy and fast way to paint. The use of the machine and the instructions were very easy. Obce i was ready to paint the Wagner power stainer was working fine. After 5 min the paint sprayer stopped working. I thought it ran out of paint but the bottle was more than half. I took it apart, cleaned it and try to use it again and it just stop working. I wasted money just for a 5 min use. Do not recommend. I made also a mistake by not reading the full information regarding this Spray paint. I had to buy 3 long ext cord to reach to my backyard as I needed to paint the wood fence. I ended up finish painting with a brush. Lesson learned. Do not go by what commercial say. So, disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dissatified customer Starting out painting my basement walls this product worked great BUT shortly after starting the second container the gun stopped spraying had to disassemble and completely clean the unit. the piston was very hard to get out. When starting the second container the gun jammed again. I took it apart and the piston was jammed which I oiled each time. I did this about 5 times before I gave up and returned the Power Painter plus. Now considering buying the ? another Wagner with separate air unit maybe the Paint Ready Station.

I was able to stain a rather large split rail fence in about three hours. The only downsides are you have to keep an eye on the tip (to prevent clogging). The tip itself turns easily to spray horizontal or vertical. Lastly, the smaller container does require refilling quite a bit but hey after a while it was no big deal. Great machine for the price.freddiep

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No flow control and wasted paint Yes - I am an amateur but I am quite smart and a quick learner. I have several pieces of wicker furniture to paint and using a brush would obviously be very labor intensive and time consuming. The Power Painter Plus is good value and assembly and clean up was not difficult. Instruction booklet was clear and easy to understand. The machine did not clog or spatter, except at the end when paint was getting too low. It is impossible to see when the paint level is too low as you can hardly see the paint in the cup and so there is no way of knowing. I found that the overspray was vast. Also. a great deal of paint was used in order to get sufficient coverage. I had to go over pieces with a paint brush afterward to get rid of drips and excess areas of paint. There is no way of controlling paint flow. I can accept the loud noise that the machine makes but the overspray and lack of paint flow is a big problem. No, I would never recommend this product. Regret the purchase.
