Answer:
The brushes do, but the application of the actual roller portion is mixed. You will need to reapply several times if the roller pad is not regularly replaced.

Yes it did for me - the only place where I had a problem was in a corner - I usually had to get a small brush to get right in the cornerr.

Based on my experience, unfortunately no. This issue was not the mess. The issue was lack of true tightness against the trim. So, I still had to tape.

Not really - I had a tough time getting a clean line against the ceiling. It's a great idea, and I wish the product lived up to its claims, but sadly there's no substitute for a steady hand. Sure. But if you don't use water base paints you are in for a horrible cleaning experience. Comes with one roller and I bought an extra while at the store. I also saw them at Menards, so HD is not the only place you can get them.

Answer:
The plastic cut-in guard is rigid and unforgiving. If you have a textured ceiling, like a popcorn texture, definitely not. The roller would rip off texture as it goes in, and the texture would make lots of boogers in the paint you are applying. On smooth walls and ceiling, it works well.

Answer:
That is exactly what the SMART Edge Roller is designed for. If the ceiling is a popcorn ceiling it will be difficult to do without leaving the slightest edge unpainted, but it will get very close. Unfortunately the popcorn texturing prevents this type of tool from getting all the way to the edge.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing- not a time saver I usually don't write reviews but this product was disappointing. I am painting many rooms and I was hoping this would be a big time saver- it wasn't. I think it might work ok on a smoothe wall or caulk line but my walls have a slight texture and it did not get the corners well. I would have kept the product and just used it as a small roller but it did not work well as a roller. The paint was not applying at one end of the roller. I returned it. However, I highly recommend the Wagner wall roller. It works well and I was hoping for the same with the Smart Edge. June 14, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Smart Manual EDger The edger is good for up and down movement but not for top of ceiling. June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Paint Tool Ever! Found this little roller while painting my mom's house. Still have that one, but have three more now. Easy, neat, and fast tool for cutting in or smaller paint jobs. Great paint tool to hand to your kids and get them in on the project. Clean up is easy. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good To use love how the edges are fully done and very easy to fill the paint in the roller and cleaning is a bit of a struggle May 17, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by easy to use easy to use ,easy to clean up, very handy i've told my friend all about it April 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Save your money! Yet another paint product that doesn't live up to the marketing claims. The learning curve for this product is very steep and long. After an hour of practice, I still could not achieve the same results as I could with a brush. You need to keep going over the same area many times to get a decent edge. And NEVER use this on bare drywall - the little edge brush digs a groove in the joint compound, requiring subsequent rework with spackle. Filling the handle reservoir is very messy, and the device is a pain to clean and lubricate. My advice - just spend $15 on a quality Purdy brush and teach yourself to edge by hand, then pocket the savings. You'll get the entire job done more quickly, and you'll be much happier with the results! August 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great for door/window trims This edge roller is a great time saver when you are painting around the moldings, door trims and window frames. I recently painted my entire town home and used it around the windows and door trims. You have to make sure that the tiny edge brush is touching the surface you are painting especially around the window frames otherwise the edge’s thin end might put a crack in the caulking. You can change the direction of the edge/roller by rotating it to the right or the left. It turned out to be a great little helper or me. July 1, 2013
