The sunflower seed I bought is in a 20 lb bag. I believe Home Depot also offers a 10 lb bag, but the 20 lb bag is much more cost effective.

That is a good question. It should be answered by the corporate office. My guess is the bag. I find these websites often have wrong info. Try the 800 number too. I have never bought it. I get mine at the co-op.

Answer:
Not 100%, but some will sprout. I let the birds clean up the overflow for a day before refilling the feeders to minimize this.

Sure do! Give 'em some time and rain and sun and next thing, the bird feeder will have a tidy little garden beneath it.

Please tell me what the power is on these seeds. This is a new bag of seeds. The birds did not eat it all as they usually do. It does not smell or look like mold or mildew.

We will return the bag but are worried. Bar code attached in case that helps.

Answer:
Hello.
Thank you for your question. The powder you see on the seeds is dust. All of our products are sourced direct from the farmers and sometimes the product accumulates dust. It is not uncommon for this to occur and is not harmful to the birds.

Answer:
I would look close to see if there are small holes in the seeds. My only guess would be larva that turn in to small moths. Or some other kind of pest. I have had pest problems. I close the bag with a couple close pins. I have also found they can come with the bag. I would look on the bag for a customer service phone number. I would take it back.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 175 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good black oil sunflower seed for feeding birds year round. This product is all black oil sunflower seed without millet or other types of seeds. Black oil sunflower seed attracts more colorful birds like cardinals, titmouse, chickadees, nuthatch, American golden finch, woodpeckers, etc. at birdfeeders. This product does not clog or cloud up birdfeeders because it doesn't contain millet or dust. Have been using this product for over a year in birdfeeders instead of using other products that contain a millet mix to attract more colorful birds versus attracting mainly sparrows and having to clean birdfeeders more often because of the millet clumping up and clogging birdfeeders and also growing mold when it gets damp. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by For the Birds Birds will go though this bag in about a week, but it's just too expensive. September 6, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Seed was not very fresh. There were a lot of spider webs in it. I was very disappointed in this product when I opened the bag. There were more cobwebs in it then there was bird seed. September 5, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best bird seed all year 'round! We have been using this product for many years. It attracts large and small birds of all colors and types. Even an occasional bear! (if you don;t take the feeder down in late Fall and early Spring) August 2, 2016
