How do you get the label off?

Water doesn't work and alcohol messes up the laquer finish, as does a razor blade. I've tried dish soap, shampoo, and a couple of cleaners. It's ridiculous - and you've already a comment in a review about that. It's not usable on one side and the messed up laquer from trying might make this a lost cause.

Answer:
I understand your frustration and I have no idea why they chose the adhesive they did for the labels. Anyway, Goo Gone works extremely well for removing the label from these knives and the stainless versions as well. Spray the gel on, let it sit for a minute and wipe off.

Answer:
I slowly pealed the sticker off. A heat gun would help if it's cold or if you want to move a bit faster. I used Goo-gone to get off the adhesive residue with a paper towel. Then I washed it with dish soap and warm water. It didn't hurt the finish.

Answer:
I just bought one of these last week. I found the only way to get the label off (fairly easily), is to soak a rag in mineral spirits, then wrap it around the blade, putting that in a plastic shopping bag (only the blade, not the handle) and sealing it up overnight. The label seemed to peel off and the mineral spirits cleaned off the last bit of adhesive. I then washed the knife in soapy water.

Rated 4.0 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Size matters I needed a wider taping knife to complete the drywall work for my kitchen remodel. This knife flexes nicely and the handle is comfortable. It does not rust after cleaning. I would have given this knife 5 stars but it is the only 14" knife I have ever purchased. I am comparing it to my 8" knife purchased 15 years ago. December 31, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price Not very strong but not very week so it is average for DIY kind of jobs. January 19, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't hold an edge This knife was a good value, but was not appropriate for finish work. Could not hold an edge. I was pretty disappointed with it. September 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good taping knife flexible enough, does a good job, hate the label that doesn't want to come off September 8, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product for weekend warrior or professional use This product has a good solid handle, easy to clean, and makes a great addition for any DIYer or professional looking for a solid trowel. Very happy with it. January 19, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality taping knife This 14 inch Wal-Board taping knife is rigid so it does not bend when spreading joint compound. The edge is straight and free of imperfections that cause streaking. The handle is comfortable. The tool cleans up easily and has proven to be durable. December 18, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HAS HELD UP GREAT! I'M ACTUALLY A CHEF, BUT I USE THIS IN THE KITCHEN (MAKING BREAD, PANCAKE GRIDDLE, ETC.) ALL THE TIME. HAS HELD UP WELL, CONSIDERING IT ISN'T MADE FOR A KITCHEN! October 23, 2011
