Would this be a useful tool for sanding down a wood deck, before re-staining? Not sure if it would be worth it, rather than getting a handheld sander.

Answer:
Unclip the hold down clips on the sanding pad. Lay the sandpaper over the cushioned base with the ends overlapping evenly. Bend the paper at both ends. Insert the paper under one of the clips with the bend of the paper no further than the edge it was bent over. Clip it in place. Slightly curl the other end of the sandpaper so it fits under the second clip. Be sure the sandpaper is snug before snapping Read More

Answer:
Purchase the standard size sheets and fold them in thirds long ways. Cut them at the fold. This will give you three sheets that fit the sanding pole. Because of the force and pressure used with a pole you will want to purchase a better grade of sandpaper because the thinner paper tears easily when using a sanding pole.

How do you unclip the clips? The clips on mine don't open to accept the sanding screen.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great finishing tool Bought this to replace an older pole sanding tool and glad I did. This locks the sanding media securely and replacing it is easy. The tool sands in many directions for sanding flexibility. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great utility sander w excellent U Joint Makes this job much easier on broad surfaces, incl walls and ceilings. Excellent functionality. September 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ideal for joint compound and drywall seams I found the best combo with this is the screened sandpaper that doesn't clog as easily. While an orbital sander also works great, this is ideal for hand sanding drywall. It smooths over the screws and seams relatively effortlessly. I like it better than an electric sander since it is prone to less dust and most of it falls to the edge of the wall. I'd prefer a more robust stick, but all in all this is a good product for the price and it gets the job done! July 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Couldn't have done the project without it! The two features most important with a tool like this are the swivel and the ease of which you can change out the sand paper. I was able to sand out in every position with ease, especially, over-head. When it came time to switch out the sand paper, it was done in literally no time, because it didn't have the conventional screw clamp. It had a pressure clamp that had the job done with a squeeze. Finally the pole length was just right, some products are to long and make it difficult in close quarters. If you want to make your sanding job simple and quick, this is the product for you!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sanding pole The hold down clips on this work very well. At first they were so tight it was hard to unsnap them but after a little use it became easier to operate them. They hold the sandpaper in place securely and the maneuverability is good. May 3, 2016

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Check the roll pins before you leave the store. Great as long as the roll pins holding the pad to the swivel joint are securely in place. April 26, 2016
