I bought the more expensive taping knife as my last one started to rust when I was letting it dry on a flat surface (blade vertical, not flat) with a towel beneath it. Today I went to use this know after not using it in a few weeks. It was completely dried before putting away and in an areas of less than 50% humidity and is ruined. Removing the rust streaks only leaves black stains or rust stains in the compound as you work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wal-Board compound knife rusted literally overnight Forgot to dry this Wal-Board sheetrock compound knife just once after cleaning and the blade became covered with rust spots literally overnight. I tried using it once more despite the rust and the rust spots stained the wall when I applied the wet compound. The brand name is wearing off the handle too after just a half dozen uses. I own several 10 - 20 year old tools and take good care of them. Lesson learned on this particular brand / product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 4" Hammer-end Joint Knife w/ soft handle A pleasure to use. I had to remove glued-down linoleum using a torch and this tool. It made the job easier than the previous joint knife I had been using and was easier on the hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great I got this one after my other ones rusted out. I got this because the other brands might be resistant to rust but not all the parts are. The pins that hold the the handle together go first(wal-board) and then the handle and blade. I got this one last time in. Works great so far. grip is nice and it smooths mud out well. So far, it has not shown any rust and has lasted longer than the 'Husky' or 'wal-board' brands.
