Great question, Watco Danish Oil is recommended for indoor use only. Watco Exterior Wood Finish is recommended for outdoor surfaces, including decks! Follow the link below for more information.

Can this be used on a flat reed chair seat? Will it seal it? Does it need a top coat or anything?

I have just caned a couple of chairs with flat reed. I would like to put some kind of clear finish on it to make them look more attractive and a bit less rough and to make them a bit water repellent. Will Danish oil serve these purposes?
Thank you.

Answer:
We don’t recommend using Watco Danish Oil for application to a flat reed chair. Instead, it sounds like polyurethane will work ideally for your application. Try Varathane Polyurethane for indoor application, or Varathane Spar Urethane. http://www.homedepot.com/s/varathane%2520water?NCNI-5

Answer:
Hello NanaSara,
I recently used Danish oil on a project. One coat brought out the color without adding too much sheen. Two coats resulted in an almost glass like finish. It was almost too high gloss for my needs. I'd recommend trying it on any leftover reed you may have first to figure out how effective it will be for your needs. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Answer:
We do not recommend using Watco Danish Oil on a bamboo surface. Danish Oil is designed to penetrate into porous wood surfaces; bamboo is not porous so the Danish Oil will not adhere.

Answer:
To complete your wood project and to enhance protection, topcoat Watco Danish Oil with any Varathane Polyurethane depending on the project needs. Polyurethane can be applied after 72 hours of applying the stain. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-1-qt-Gloss-Triple-Thick-Polyurethane-2-Pack-281541/205446624

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Virtually goof proof Pretty easy to use. The hardest part is getting the top off. I found flipping off the plastic child proof helps. Brings out the grain beautifully and gives a light protective coat without a plastic feel. Not overly keen about the colored oils, but I do mix a dash of the walnut into the natural for a touch more contrast. August 30, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stuff This is an awesome easy to use wood finish for any skill level. If you are thinking about poly but don't need an absolutely rock hard finish save yourself a few hours and use this instead. Will look better in the end. If you are smart enough to use a tool to open the can you are smart enough to use this. We aren't all so lucky... January 31, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best easy use wood refinisher Over 20 years ago, a neighbor tipped me off to this product. We were selling a house with an abused wood door and baseboards with many dings and scratches. I lightly hand sanded the door, tacked it with a dry cloth and gently recovered it with the oil. The realtor thought I had replaced the door after it turned out so well. And, you couldn't see the scratches on the baseboards. I have always kept a bottle of the oak colored on hand since then. We have grandkids now and the dings and scratches will have to be fixed when we sell this house. I have recommended and shared this bottle with my friends through the years. Don't confuse it with a "gold" product. That disappears off the scratches while this stays on and covers so well. Happy DIY !!! February 6, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by it actually is hard to open I'm writing this because of the other review on here. This stuff isn't too bad, it REALLY soaks in. Have only noticed blotchiness on poplar. They're really hard to open, that other review is right. My last can opened okay, but the one before that I had to pop the white cap off, and pretty much destroy the inner metallic cap. It was okay to store for a few days but very messy, good thing I used it all because I wouldn't have been able to reseal it properly, at least without another container. February 4, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Can't Open the Container This might be a good product. Got it home and could not open the container. It has a "Push down and Turn" cap. Good luck with that. I recommend you try to open the container in the store. If you can open it, try it. If you can't leave it on the shelf and get something that is easier to open. Cap is too much trouble for the contents....can't be that much better than something easier to open. January 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does what it's supposed to Leaves a nice finish, brings life back into dull wood. As other reviews mentioned, it is hard to open, and I knew this before I bought it. A pair of channel locks opens it up without damaging the cap at all and I'm able to re-close it. April 28, 2014
