Answer:
In most cases, the surface remains tacky after application of Watco Rejuvenating Oil for one of two reasons. Usually, it is caused when the product is not wiped dry after application. After applying Rejuvenating Oil allow 10 minutes for the oil to penetrate the surface and then wipe it dry with a lint-free soft cloth. It can also be a result if the product is applied d over previously finished surfaces. Read More

Surfaces will deteriorate and show age after some years but this Watco Rejuvenating Oil product brings it back to life. I have found that stains can still show a presence after cleaning and removing most of it but this product blends in the old with the new to give an even shine and look. The only drawback I can see is when the product is kept on the shelf be sure to mix it up before use. I've been using it for 3 years on many different types of finishes and textures and I'm on my 3rd or 4th can.

There is so much distressed woodwork in our house that refinishing would be a life's work, but I can't bear to paint it! So far, though, the Rejuvenating Oil has done a great job of making it glow without destroying the character. Bare spots and deep scratches will need more attention, but this stuff revives 90% of the surfaces I've tried it on, while "merely" helping the other 10%. Just as importantly, it has done no harm at all! No caking up in corners, or trapping dust, so I'm very pleased. I'll definitely pick up more, and likely other Watco products for testing on surfaces that need more help. Remember that this is an intermediate fix between polishing and refinishing, so keep your expectations realistic - the product does what it claims. The smell lingers for several days, but it's not unpleasant, and you can definitely continue using the space, even with limited ventilation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great refinishing I brought this to try and restore a buffet that had been in my garage for about 6 years and had water damage. This product did a great job in bringing back the wood, and it shine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy, and good results This is a product that is to be used on woods that have a previous oil finish. I used it on a section of old Bruce flooring (back before they used polyurethane finish) that is the 'bed' on a window seat. Lots of sun. After 29 years, the wood was very pale, had white spots, looked dried out, and was no longer the rich gunstock brown color that it was when it was new. I wiped it on without any prep other than dusting -- it dissolves previous wax applications -- and the results were dramatic. It took about two days to dry and looked great without anything else -- all the water spotting was gone, the wood looked dark and rich again, and had a nice sheen. I put on a coat of paste wax. It looks like new again. Very easy to apply with just a clean cloth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for refurbishing old wood I used the rejuvenating oil to refurbish old pieces of furniture. After applying two to three times to the furniture the wood looks great again.
