I have a slow running drain so how does the outer cap on a locking drain remove from the stopper to clean it. does it screw or pop off? Already put a whole bottle of drain cleaner last night and it did not repiar the issue? please help

If the brass pin adapter was used to secure down into the cross bars with threads, then it's as simple as unthreading the stopper by holding down on the flange area and unthread counter-clockwise. If silicone was used, then actually try using a name brand dental floss and get between the drain and the bottom of the universal NuFit and work way through silicone cutting through it. The way to clean out drain by plumbers is to snake through the overflow as this is the preferred method of cleaning out bath drains.

Universal NuFit Push Pull Bathtub Stopper with Grid Strainer, Combo Pin Kit in Chrome Plated is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tub kit replacement This part saved me from having to call the plumber. I had screws rust and break off in the old lever style cover. Luckily there were small holes below that i was able to screw the metal plate on with. Looks great and no cutting into the wall to replace the pipe. Only thing bad is it didnt include replacement screws or the silicone for the drain plug piece.
