I would like to put this pump between two 25 ft hoses and use it to start a siphon and then allow the siphon to continue flowing without the drill running. Can this pump do that?

Answer:
You could always get the water flowing, pinch off the hose and disconnect the pump and if hose end is downhill the water should start flowing out of the hose due to gravity. Remember, the exit end of the hose needs to below the intake part of the hose for this method to work. You're basically using the pump to prime the hose and this avoids having to use your mouth to suck the water through the hose.

Answer:
I used this pump to put transmission fluid in a Cadillac CTS, this transmission doesn't have a dipstick and fluid must be pumped in from beneath the vehicle. Fluid only moves when drill is on. No siphon action here. When drill stops fluid stops. Hope this help.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works great once you figure it out The direction of the water flow was easily marked, but which way to set the drill was through experience. I had it 'forward" and realized it needed to be reverse when it started to blow bubbles in the water. Instruction on the drill configuration needs to be better. Other wise - worked great. Leaked some, but expected it to - so propped it over a mop bucket - which made for a convenient platform January 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great for a RV camper Super for adding water to your RV when water needs to be carried to your camper in an area where it is dry camping. February 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Much more than I expected less than I thought I'd pay I was in a pinch and needed some thing simple and inexpensive to pump water from an a/c condensation pan that was plugged and close to collapsing. The plastic hand pumps were a failure so I tried the drill pump. I was very impressed with the amount of water it pulled in so short a time, the simplicity, and the reasonable price. All else I needed was two garden hoses and my drill. This was a real lifesaver! Excellent product I couldn't find anywhere else. September 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to move water This pump worked well. I hooked up the two hoses, primed the intake and put intake hose in the water. Started the drill and shortly had water flowing. Had no problem with leaking at any drill speed. This may not be the fastest drill pump, but it did move water well. June 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by impossible to get working There is no assembly, but having to prime this pump constantly makes it impossible to use. June 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty Good Needed to pump water out of a pool and found this drill pump to be cheap yet effective. Once I got it primed it ran for hours at a decent flow. Would recommend for any simple job. April 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by It did not work The pump is supposed to siphon water out of whatever; but it spun like a whirligig instead, getting water everywhere. Massive Fail March 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by simple and effect to use uses currently owned drill. pumps water thoughly ealy installation March 4, 2014
