Store SKU # 1000027407

The Water Worker 20 Gal. Horizontal Pressurized Well Tank is pre-charged and designed to maintain its air charge for years to provide easy upkeep. The tank utilizes a thick diaphragm to keep water separate from pre-charged air and to help reduce air loss. This tank also features a steel shell to support the water weight, a polypropylene liner to help prevent taste or odor from being absorbed into the water and deep-drawn steel construction for durability.

  • Horizontal design fits into tight spaces with very little head room
  • Polypropylene-lined steel supports water weight to ensure water never sits in loose-fitting vinyl or rubber bags that can fold, crease and wear, liner does not require scheduled replacements for long-lasting use, formed liner fits the steel shell for added durability
  • NSF certified
  • Stainless-steel waterway lining has no plastic to cross-thread, strip or crack
  • Constructed of deep-drawn steel for durability
  • Sizing - count the number of water fixtures in and outside the home and multiply that # by 3; fixtures include faucets, spickets, showerheads, dish washer, washing machine, etc. for hot tubs and sprinkler systems add 1 to 2 fixtures for each; there are no disadvantages to having a larger well tank as fewer pump cycles will extend pump life and save money on electricity; tank stores a buffer of water in case of power outage
  • Thick diaphragm keeps water separate from pre-charged air and helps to reduce air loss
  • Molded diaphragm offers an ideal fit, sits on top of the water and will not fold, crease or drag against the steel shell
  • 20 Gal. of total volume; plain or galvanized tank equivalent of 42 Gal.
  • Pre-charged to 38 psig; 100 psig maximum working pressure
  • Maintains air charge for years to provide easy upkeep
  • 1 in. NPTM system connection
  • Well tanks are not be used in Reverse Osmosis systems
  • Well tanks are not be used for water expansion in thermal (water heater) or hydronic (boiler/solar) systems

I am currently supplied with well water directly through pipe in my home. Many days the pump fails so there is no water until the person in-charge goes and fixes the pump (usually middle of the day). I want to add a water storage and directly connect it to my pipe so I can shower, etc and go to work without waiting for the in-charge person to go fix it.

Yes You would need a check valve between the tank and the main, otherwise when the pump went down, and when some neighbor turning on a faucet, would draw from this tank. In reality though, its only 20 gallons on reserve. taking a shower would be iffy at best. But, there would be enough water to wash up, or make coffee. You would need a shut-off valve between the tank and your system too. that way when the pump goes down you could open the valve and use the stored water. make sure you close the valve after the pump fills it back up and your ready for the next time. Your situation is similar to mine. But in your case, you will have to have additional water storage and a pump to make this work. Also, a check valve and other new plumbing will be necessary. It was a little involved getting the system all together. I don't know what your DIY comfort zone is, but it sounds like you may need some help to do what it will take to get up and running. We have a well box sunk into the ground, with pump and old pressure tank as a unit. Well driller said to keep pump and replace with another pressure tank. This one looks good but i'm not sure of the fit. Diameter and length especially may be a problem. Can you give me more specific details. Don't want to buy one and have to return it.

The stated size is 29"wX16"hX151/2"w. However, mine appears to be a little longer, considering the cap on one end and the male pipe fitting on the other.I get an actual length of about 30". Also, remember to include the plumbing fittings and pipe when figuring the over-all length.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works like it should Replaced a 7 gallon utiltech tank with the 20 gallon water worker. Easy install, now pump runs less than half as often February 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Water Worker water tank This water tank is fairly easy ti hook up but the legs it is supposed to stand on is too short. The nipple that you hook the water up to on this one was very rusty and had to be brushed very good to get some of the rust off before I could get it to stop leaking. But over all it might be a good tank, I will know after about a year. The instructions on hooking it up are not much help because they don't show the same tank or explain any thing about the hole in the end of the tank with the cap on it or the two pieces of plastic sticking out of the hook up hole.I got it hooked up and so far it works good. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Well pump pressure tank the old tank did have an elbow factory installed this one did not, it was my only trip back to the store. April 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tank was well made, not difficult to install I installed the tank using 1 inch pvc. The old tank was 35 + years old, filled with crude, I should have changed the old tank years ago. April 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement tank The water tank was a different brand than my original, but was able to install with no changes to the plumbing fittings. February 23, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Favorable review of Water Worker 20 gal. Horizontal Well Tank I needed a replacement tank for a 20 gal vertical tank no longer manufactured (Sears). I tracked down the original manufacturer who had one very expensive replacement left. This horizontal tank fit the space available. It took about four hours to complete the job with re-using the 1/2 HP shallow well pump. I used PEX fittings and pipe purchased at HD, no leaks. Also installed a knife switch for a pump turn-off. HD price was the lowest I found, lower than Amazon. I had it delivered to my house (free) and it arrived earlier than expected, undamaged. I built a base from pressure treated 4 x 4's which deadened the sound when the pump was running. The previous tank had metal legs on a concrete slab. Note: the input pipe fitting (male) has two plastic tabs protruding, leave those alone and attach your female elbow or tee. Tenant is happy. November 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Item, easy to install and works well! The tank had easy to follow instructions and was a breeze to install. The metal bracket to mount the pump upon was a desirable feature that influenced my choice of this item. It works very well with a shorter cycle time than my previous tank. A follow up question to the manufacturer was professional and answered all my questions. April 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Arrived Damaged The tank was placed in a plastic bag and put in a box with no packing material. A weld on on of the feet was broken and the foot bent. I had to hammer the foot back into shape so the tank would set level. Otherwise the tank performed as expected. September 13, 2015
