Does this add height from the original shower head?

This question is from Medallion 5-Spray Hand Shower in Brushed Nickel
Asked by
kilica
October 9, 2012
My husband is 6'4" and the shower head installed in our apartment is a little low. If we installed this shower head, would it add a little extra height just due to how the head is situated?

Thank you!

Answer:
Yes, I think so. The showerhead sits up about 3-4 inches (if not more) above where the original showerhead would be in my bathroom. That's one of the first things I noticed about this showerhead.

Answer:
Yes. The very bottom of most new, hand-held shower head handles now sits in the holding clip. My old hand-held handles used to slip into and through the holding clip (which I prefer - because I'm not 6'4"). The new hand-helds sit approximately 8-10 inches above the end of your shower water pipe (depending on the length of the handles and size of the heads).

Answer:
No, in fact it will sit below the shower arm. But you can angle it upwards. I suggest purchasing an additional bracket that you install above the shower arm. It's very inexpensive and you install it at any height you want. Just make sure that any bracket you purchase fits the handle properly.

Answer:
Yes, this shower head is quite tall. However, the shower head is not curved, and the spray comes out horizontally until you remove it from the wall for hand-held use. Most of the other Waterpik models also have fairly long handles (nowadays, anyway) and I suggest that you find a long-handled shower head that provides higher pressure than this one.

After installing it does add height. I'm 5'9" and it's about 3-4 inches above my head. Although I suppose it all depends on where your shower arm is placed.

Answer:
I know this is an old question, but I have this showerhead and I can pause it. If you turn the plastic selector ring (the one that changes between spray patterns), just stop in between spray pattern settings. I can get the water down to a drippy trickle while soaping up and then turn the spray back on. Not as easy as a button, but it works.

No pause, but the black ring around the handle can be twisted to select three different flow/pressure levels. The lowest one would probably work to reduce excess spraying while set down on the floor of a bath tub or shower.

Not that I've found. I have one of those plastic shower drain hair catchers and set the shower head on top of it and the spray doesn't go everywhere. But doesn't have a pause.

You need an adjustable open-end wrench or slip-joint pliers. The plastic part of the shower head that screws onto the shower head pipe in your shower goes on hand-tight, then needs another 1/4 turn with wrench or pliers.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Spray falls like rain We have been using this showerhead for about 3 weeks. The spray falls almost like rain from the very tall unit. (It would be great for extra tall people.) My only complaint is that it takes a little while for the spray to saturate my very thick, curly hair. Besides that, the spray is good. My kids love it because it's not as powerful as some other showerheads we've had. I've used some of the other spray settings, including the trickle (which is really more like the Maid of the Mist, if you've ever been to Niagara Falls) and the powerful jet. I like the jet for washing my hair as it saturates more quickly and seems to be more efficient. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] September 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT POWER SPRAY I have had this for just over a week. I thought I would have to ask my son to install it for me if I had a problem doing it. It was so easy I didn't have to call him and only took a few minutes to do. I like the 5 foot hose, not only for myself but when I give my small dog a bath. I don't have to lift him up to the shorter hoses on other products. The added pluses for this are 1. I don't get more water on me than the dog and 2. the different selections are gentle enough to not make him panic. The water pressure coming out is great. The fact that it is so easy to select the one you want to use is a major plus. I change selections according to what I have done that day. Weeding my flowers means the message therapy spray is one of my favorites. Wish I would have had this one a long time ago!!! Absolutely no cons to this power sprayer. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the Design! Love the way this product looks and works. My husband installed it in about 5 minutes and it looks good! We are tall people - and this definitely gave us head room - no more banging into the shower head... but that may be a problem for very short people as this sits high on the shower spigot. The Spray intensity was pretty good on most settings, although both Hubby and I didn't care for the mist setting. Definitely looks stylish in the shower and all in all a very good choice for us. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice features! This is a very nice shower head. Installation was super easy with no tape or special tools needed. I am very happy that when the head is in the cradle - I actually gained quite a few inches of height on the shower head from my previous one. The settings are very easy to change and offer a nice variety of choices. The stream runs from gentle/water saving to pretty powerful - good for working out muscle soreness when using handheld style. Appears to be very nicely made - totally updated the appearance of my shower. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] September 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome shower head!!! This shower head is awesome. Great water pressure and feels great after a long day at work. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] October 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best showerhead to date :) When I received this product, I was pleasantly surprised at the larger size as I thought it would be smaller. This was to replace a "rain" showerhead that I've had for years and loved, but I must say now I'm totally pleased with this new showerhead mainly because of all the different spray patterns it includes and each one is great and doesn't require as much water pressure as my previous one. But one of the best surprises is that I can remove it from it's holder and rinse my tub/shower out thoroughly as it reaches all the way around it...thanks Waterpik :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] September 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Improvement! This item replaced an older, smaller shower head. The width of the shower head is good, delivering a wider, constant spray. It was easy to install, although the QR video did not work when we tried to view it. The best of the sprays are regular and circular pulsing; not sure what the misting is for. The only disadvantage is that the control on the head is hard to reach for a shorter person; otherwise, it twists easily. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] September 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Features I had this for about two weeks now, and I love it. It is a little big, but I can hold it in my hand and get all the soap off my back. I also like the 5 different spray that I can change it to, and most of all it is easy to clean my tub with it. It was very very easy to install as well.
