This kit is excellent. I t contains everything needed to strap the water heater in two locations. The instructions are clear. All of this made for an easy installation.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Joe41 Earthquake Strap Install
Location of water heater determines how easy or hard the install is. Mine was in close quarters but I managed to get some 2x4s attached to studs behind the dry wall and then used some shorter pieces to fill in the gap. I used screws to hold all the wood together and lag bolts to secure them to the studs. The bands pose a risk of cuts, so it's advisable to wear protective gloves. It took more time to cut and assemble the blocks than it did to attach the straps. Now for my personal rant: I can't imagine whose hair brained idea it was to make these straps mandatory for earthquake insurance. I would think that if you are in an earthquake strong enough to knock over a water heater, you are going to have bigger fish to worry about.

This is the best strapping kit available right now. I hope Home Depot continues to stock this item.

Went in easy, good directions. I did do some modifications to the install, and chose instead to accordion the excess metal strapping rather than cut it, but that worked out just fine.
