I have used this product twice on a hot water tank. Both times the product failed and ruptured at the braids and flooded my basement. TERRIBLE!!!!!

This looks like a very good quality product. I bought two of them, one from each store, but both leaked between the red grommet and the male threaded end upon installation. I then chose the flexible all-metal water heater connector and had no leaks. I've since found many other reports on the internet reporting the same problem with these WATTS connectors.

I purchased these with the new hot water heaters about 6 years ago. And these hoses were recommeded to use by the Home Depot Plumbing Department. One of the hoses developed a pin hole leak (output of the Hot Water Heater) and leaked water all over. After discussing this with other plumbing experts - these hoses are really just a stainless steel covered rubber hose - that is not designed to outlast the water heater - other Home Depot reviews also stated that the Flacon Stainless Steel connectors are better - and are more flexible than the copper versions. I really wish that Home Depot would carry these - and also advise their plumbing staff of the issues with these Stanless Steel Rubber Covered hoses. Other issues with these are that the rubber liner can deteriote and enter the hot water heater. I plan to replace both the incoming (cold) and the output (hot) - as I reallly did not want any issues with the plumbing system.

This hose (Watts 66213318) failed before the water heater failed. It sprung a leak under the braided stainless steel and sprayed hot water on the wall and steamed up the garage resulting in damage. Replaced it with a flexible solid metal hose.

Need to replace the existing connector because of a leak. This one had a big reminder to not over tighten, good reminder when you are in a hurry to get it fixed.
