CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 1.1 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy !! After working in the power industry for 20 plus years using compression fittings on high pressure applications up to 5000psi, this ( Watts ) product is horrible. I used it to join 1/4 in copper tubing for an ice maker. Having clean cut ends and straight tubing this product doesn't seal normal water pressure of 60 lbs. What a disappointment when you have to rely on inferior products. Reading many customer reviews I tried it both with and without the inserts and it still leaked. I'll wait till my local hardware store is open to buy a good quality Swagelok product. October 31, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ugh First, the description says compatible with other compression fittings. Not necessarily, there are some other brand fittings you cannot mix and match with. I found this out the while working on my roof, very inconvenient. If you're using this fitting, make sure you use its nut, sleeve, and ferrule together, not another brand sleeve etc. Bigger problem is the integrated nut/sleeve. Might sound good since it reduces chance of losing the sleeve. But with plastic tubing with a ferrule properly inserted, it is virtually impossible to slide the integrated nut/sleeve over the tube/ferrel to the end. So I had to beat the nut / sleeve apart to separate the two pieces, not easy to do without damaging the sleeve. Then I could complete the installation, but even then it's not easy, that sleeve is a tight fit. In the end there were no leaks, but what a process. Home Depot carries a Dial brand brass compression union that is sold as an accessory to evaporative coolers. It's half the cost of the Watts, I'm going to try it next. May 26, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Leak-Prone on Copper Tubing Two couplings leaked at both ends when connecting copper tube for an icemaker. Torquing further did not help. The sleeve is such a tight fit on the tube that it scratches the tube surface. This is probably the leak path as the water comes out between the sleeve and the tube. Switched to the Watts flare union LFA-65 and A-60 flare nuts. Worked great. July 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by same problem Who knew you could get a compression fitting wrong!?!? Same problem as all others. It would not seal on the copper line. The 1/4" copper line that came with the refrigerator kit from Home Depot barely fit through so I thought I may have scratched the sleeve when inserting it. So I tried another one. Same problem. Glad I read the reviews as now I know not to try this again. I will go to lowes or another hardware store. Home Depot should really stop carrying this piece of junk if it is that bad. How hard is it to get a compression fitting that works? May 1, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Doesn't really work... Used this fitting to attempt to transition from 1/4" copper tubing to an ice-maker line. This fitting seemed to fit the plastic tubing from the refrigerator just fine, but I couldn't get it to seal properly on the copper fitting. There are no compression rings (ferrules) on these fittings, just a pitiful excuse for a thin metal seal that is built into the cap nut, which I think is probably the problem. I'm glad these weren't expensive... sadly there are no alternative products at my local Home Depot, so I'll either have to try Lowe's or go to a mom-and-pop hardware store to find a decent product, I guess. Long story short: avoid these cheesy fittings. December 28, 2013
