is this a stand alone product or do i need others

Asked by: cheapskate
You will need the watts recirculating pump for the hot water heater. It comes with one sensor and this extra sensor valve kit would be for other sinks. I put the initial valve in my bathroom and this is for my kitchen sink.

what power sorice is needed

Asked by: cheapskate
The sensor valve kit doesn't need a power source. The watts recirculating pump that goes on the hot water heater needs to be plugged in.

Hot Water Recirculating System Sensor Valve Kit is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 228.

This was a problem on the previous manifold about three times and I know how to correct the problem. I replaced the previous part because the thermostatic element would not fully close and I doubt if the manufacturer would sell just the part. I believe that our water contributes to the problem with scale that causes the plunger to bind. in the past a cleaning had restored proper functioning for at least a year. It is just a minor inconvenience for me. It is a good system overall for saving water and mostly for not have to wait for two minutes for hot water.

This is the third Watts sensor valve I have had to install to maintain operation of the Water Recirculating System, which has been in use since . The first one failed about a couple years after I installed the system in February 2012. The failure is easy to diagnose - when you turn the cold water supply on at the facet where the sensor is located, and hot water comes out, the sensor needs to be replaced. The sensor should be relatively cheap, but since they don't sell it separately, except as part of a kit containing new flex water supply lines, it is much more costly.

We've been experiencing a drought for many years. Because my hot water heater is located in my garage, which is about twenty feet from my house, I needed to run the water for several minutes until it became hot. Now it's hot in less than 30 seconds, even at the faucet located the farthest from the water heater. It's wonderful!

It didn't say on the pkg that it recirculates the water through the cold water lines. This meant that my great cold lined drinking water was now laced with the ugly mineraled up water from the hot water heater. I paid $4400 for a great softwater/filtering system which was now being compromised by this recirculating hot water thru my cold lines. Yuck. I though the valve system I purchased was novel enough to not do this. It didn't tell me any of this information on line or on the pkg. I DO NOT want to be drinking the water from my hot water heater. (AND IT ALSO PUT THIS WATER IN THE NEARBY REFRIGERATOR FILTERED WATER SYSTEM PLUS ICE CUBES. Yuck. I felt they did not fully inform me about this unhealthy situation and it cost me the labor of a plumber setting up the Watts recir'g system!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in the end, I removed it from my house and now I'm back to drinking healthy water. I'd advise all potential purchasers to research this system which puts hot water heater water in your kitchen/ bath faucets and your refrigerator filtered water and ice cubes. Yuck. I had it removed because I didn't research these points before I bought it!!
