Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Ditchwizard Very disappointed, does not fit standard tub
This item would not fit my standard 5' by 30" (Americal Standard Cast Iron) tub. The drain portion is constructed differently than conventional units, and has few threads -- did not have enough to catch a thread with the rubber gasket in place. In my opinion, it will probably only work on fiberglass tubs -- I think some of the resin products probably are too thick for this thing also. In additon, the quality is no more than average, probably less than many others. Considering that it is, in my opinion, very expensive, I feel that its value is poor. I'm returning it to H-D and I hope I can get my money back. In addition, the instructions are minimal and poor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lubco Pricey, but Great Drain
I needed a drain system that fit a taller tub and this was the only one in stock. I have now installed 2 of these and I like the cable system. The drain lifts out for my tenants to be able to easily clean.

I installed on a deep tub, this is what was recommended...I connected and when I drained, The water drained into the office below...opened the ceiling to find a crack in the seam where the two cheap plastic tubes meet...when I opened the box, I though it looked cheap...didn't realize how CHEAP, till this happened...don't waste your time or money...HOMEDEPOT SHOULD NOT CARRY THIS PRODUCT...

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Instalation: Cable Bath Drain "Watts M/N:22SN/ORB
I just got done with a completely remodeled Bathroom. I mean everything is new; Floor to Trusses. I purchased this model because I installed a Kohler 1151-LA-47 Whirlpool Tub. Home Depot really didn't have much a far as Tub Drain system that fit this model so I actually had to purchase this Brand/Model. Note: Whirlpool Tubs are about 3" higher than a regular Tub, so the overflow is 3" higher as well. That's why you need the extended over flow length.
1: If you installed a Whirlpool Tub, you should plan on doing the following. A: The instruction sheet shows the two seals in different locations. Please note that the wide seal always goes on the "Tub Drain" end. B: Plan on going to the hardware store & buy a beveled seal for the "Over Flow". The "Flat Washer" that comes with this kit may not seal because of the fact that your new Tub may not be completely flat on the outside of the Over Flow hole. It's almost impossible to keep it from leaking. My Tub Over Flow drain pipe rocks back & forth about 1/4 ". The plumber I had installed it & I'm removing the drain system & install it so it's not leaking like it was. Even though I would recommend this to anyone, please use caution when installing. If you are reading this review prior to going to Home Depot to purchase it, ask the sales person in the plumbing section if he/she will give you the beveled seal since the one in the kit doesn't really work correctly.
Ask the sales person to check my review if you can't get him/her to do it. Paying 2 times the price, you should be able to get the correct seal for free.
As far as the kit, the 2 different pictures may confuse you if you don't install Tubs for a living. If you are an installer then you'll know what I'm talking about. Remember, the large seal goes on the drain end of the Tub-under the Tub.
2: I am also going to put a light coat of silicone on the outer part of the tub wall around the over flow hole just prior to hooking up the over flow drain pipe.
3: I gave it 3 stars because the directions could be better & because the installation sheet shows the 2 different pictures with the seals in different places.
4: Watts is a large corporation. but I did run into problems trying to find help on their website about this product...
Last, Good Luck if you buy this item.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Scott This Drain Kit is JUNK!!!!
I spent a little more and got this cable driven shower drain because I thought that the higher price meant a better product. What a mistake! I had remodeled with new tub/shower and installed this drain. Less than 2 years later, the cable drive housing leaks badly. It ruined kitchen ceiling below. You will notice small box at drain bottom where cable enters drain. This box leaks along with location where cable enters box. Stick with trip lever models in brass for years of reliability. I will never make a mistake like this again. Keep the design simple with quality material, especially where the construction is buried within floors or walls, it will save you in the long run.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Confused Not good Instructions
I still have no idea how this thing is supposed to go together after two hours of messing with it. The instructions are garbage they show all the parts but not where the tub goes in between the parts...DUUUHHH. The picture on the box shows the big seal on the bottom and the instructions show it on the top, I tried all combinations and it looks funny with my final version. This was a replacement from another Watts peice of junk from HD that didnt shut off the water entirely. Unbelievable that HD sells this, thank god it was half price but still too much as the amount of time you will spend is ridiculous

The product is nice looking but the drain plug is extremely difficult to open. Do not like it for that reason. We are using a rubber stopper instead. Very disappointed. Love the way it looks though.
