Customer Questions & Answers

Can we get this pump wired 120 volts

Our underground wires are 120
Asked by: Dee
Yes you can but my experience at 110 volts is the pump won't last very long, maybe a year. After changing to a new same pump and using 240 volts, it has lasted over 5 years now watering my lawn with lake water while sitting on the dock exposed to the rain. I drain it in the winter time and cover it.

Can this unit be used with a pressure tank

Asked by: ArizonaCowboy
Yes, which is a good idea with ANY pump AND a pressure switch to shut if off when it gets up to pressure.

What is the max. pressure it can deliver? I need 20 GPM@50 PSI. Possible ?
Asked by: Lyle
Our installation had the cut-out switch set at 60 PSI. With 6 sprinkler heads 22 feet higher than the creek feeding the pump, it maintained 40-45 PSI. The pump data from Home Depot's listing shows: Wayne's WLS150 cast iron sprinkling pump, pumps up to 2320 Gal. per hour at 30 psi.(Note that's 38 GPM) 1-1/2 HP; max. flow rate is 2950 GPH (at 5 ft. / 30 psi); 2750 GPH at 10 ft. of discharge lift at 30 psi. That being said, 50 PSI sounds like a stretch, but my gauge showed just under that, with all heads with 2.5 GPM nozzels. Hope this gives you some insight on a pump that provided outstanding pressure AND volume. Joe 70

But it it really bad when you buy the same pump and expect it to fit exactly as the previous pump. Not in this case. they changed the base plate. The box shows the old base. But the pump in the box is not the same as the old version or the picture on the box. The picture shows two feet with slots and that is the old pump. But the new pump has a square base with holes not slots. And what makes it worse is the spacing between the holes has changed. So now the new pump will not fit the existing bolts because the spacing is different. The idiots that changed the base are morons.

The first one is still up and running at my home (5 + years), and the second I installed at a client's home. It runs quiet, and has not given me any problems. Reviews on similar pumps may be negative because of improper priming techniques (it causes the impeller to overheat and melt). I recommend using the best check valve you can find for your system, place it close to the pump, and ask for help if you are not familiar with getting the initial prime on a lawn pump. Once primed, this pump performs for years without loosing pressure. If you are in an area that freezes, make sure to use the provided drain plug to empty the water out of the pump when the temperature will be below freezing and you should be able to use this pump for many years. -Isaac In & Out Home Improvements of NWFL

I like the fast prime feature and the way the new pump fits with few plumbing changes. I have not found anything to dislike aboout this pump. This pump has been in operation for two weeks with no problems. The pump puts out more water than I expected so I plumbed in a bypass valvue so we could water the garden with a hose without the pressure switch cycling the pump on and off.

The pump was a direct disconnect and remove the old pump and reconnect the new, with no re-plumbing needed, fill with water and turn it on. The pump primed in a minute or so and shut itself off on the pressure switch.

The motor runs quiet but a little hot. Water output is great. The explanation for, exactly how the voltage switch works, is a bit vague. Personally I feel that 16 gauge wire in a 1 & 1/2 hp. motor is on the lite side however, overall the pump works well.
