Have one part of the back yard, near the laundry room that floods everyrtime it rains. Can't put in a drain, so I wondered if I could use this?

Answer:
You would also want to monitor the use. If the pump sucks air, it will overheat and over time shorten the pump's life. If you could manage a small depression, you could then use a float switch to make the operation automatic.

Answer:
Yes, it should work well for this application. Just be sure to use the supplied strainer on the intake (suction) hose to prevent any debris from getting into the pump and causing damage to the impeller.

The pump uses a series wound type of ac/dc motor and the actual current draw will depend somewhat on the pumping load. Answer:
About 100 feet is the maximum height for any useful flow rate. The flow decreases nearly linearly from the maximum at zero lift to zero flow at about 100 to 110 feet of lift. Remember also that the size of pipe or hose can restrict the flow as well as the required lift on the suction side of the pump. I would not recommend using for heights over about 40 to 50 feet.

I am using it with a 50 foot rise, thru a 50 foot 5/8 in hose with a "Y" to 2 100 ft hoses. It has enough volume to run 2 impulse sprinklers. Very pleased with this purchase.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 117 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent pump I'm pulling water 17' up from an old shallow well. pumping it through a 100' of 5/8" cheap light duty garden hose and it's running a regular type of Sprinkler head that I mounted in a wooden box and it's shooting water 25' with no problems what so ever. I used the same type of cheap light duty 5/8" garden hose as a suction hose cut to 18'. I may have to rig up some 18' harder PVC Sprinkler tube as the light weight garden hose I'm using for suction is kind of collapsed but it working excellent. so why change it for now. This little pump "ROCkS". Don't hesitate to buy one. June 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Happy I bought this pump to replace a smaller 1/10 HP pump by the same manufacturer, to water the lawn and garden with recycled water. I use a suction hose, along with a garden hose and spray nozzle on the discharge. This pump easily generates twice the flow, higher pressure, and reduces the watering time significantly. So far so good on reliability, after a month of every-other-day use. Very happy with the purchase. June 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by biggest mistake added 0 water pressure, it was very misleading in the description. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1/2 HP Pump This is a great way to move water or increase Presure. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This little pump came though when I needed it. There is very little assembly involved. Just hook up garden hose dto each side , drop one in water the odher where you want to pump it to, prime and plug in. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great so far Needed a devise to drain my pool down a bit which was over full due to abnormal rain fall. It worked like a charm. I've only used it once so it's really to new to give it 5 stars but I am very pleased with the results thus far. Based on the ease of accomplishing my task, I would highly recommend it to others to buy. February 10, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 1/2 HP Cast Irom Utility Pump The pump is simple and easy to use. Set up was a snap. Function is nothing special, it pumps water. January 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great little pump for residential irrigation water management Ease of portability and strong pressure makes this pump ideal for transferring water between tanks and irrigating landscape plants with hose and spray nozzle. I used readily available , inexpensive PVC pipe and couplings (all at HD) to connect the pump to my pick-up mounted water transfer tank and pump into my large storage tank. When I need pressure for my irrigation hose, I move the pump to the PVC pipe from my large storage tank. It all works with little fuss. April 12, 2014
