Does this pump have to be turned off as soon as the areas dry or does it have a sensor that cuts it off.

Will a water hose screw on the adapter. Also I want to hook it to a 30 ft water hose and discharge in a small concrete drain will it pump the water through a hose for 30 ft
Asked by: bill
Yes, pump has to be turned off manually, by user when area(s) are dry. No auto-off sensor.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor website info - I ended up returning it Might be a good pump for the right application but . . . Incomplete online specs and wrong instruction guide linked at website led me to return it. Description and specs say it pumps down to 1/8" of water but fails to say 2-5/8" deep water is needed before pump primes and pumping can begin. The instruction manual linked on the HD website leads to a completely different, incorrect sprinkler pump so that info is useless. The instruction manual in the box is correct but that's a little late to be finding out the performance specs. I had to take it back. If HD had the correct Instructions link, it would have saved them and me a lot of wasted time and effort.

I use it for draining water from my pool (this year's SoCal rains). I have owned it only for ~2 months so cannot speak to multi-year longevity but I've run it 3x, each time for ~3 hours - all good. Quiet. Just hook-up your garden hose to drain to your preferred location/drain. Met/exceedes my expectations. Good value.

Bad news: They offer a 1-1/2 inch output hose with this. I bought two. But this pump has a 1-1/4 inch female threaded output, and comes with an adapter to a garden hose. Home Depot does not carry the 1-1/4 inch male threaded by 1-1/2 inch male hose barbed fitting needed to connect the output hose they sell for this pump. Nor does Loews. But it's a fine pump and moves a lot of water, once you manage to connect a 1-1/4 inch output hose. The garden hose works OK, but doesn't move water all that fast. Also, the cord is to short for draining a swimming pool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke twice After two months of use a securing tab on the bottom plate just below the output broke. This caused the O-ring to blow out and total loss of output power. It was under warranty so I sent into Wayne. The warrenty is pretty much garbage since they make you pay for shipping and this pump is heavy. Return shipping was $36 so pretty much half the cost of the new one, aggravating!!!!! Received the new one and within a few uses it broke in the exact same place. Two thumbs down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and Fast I needed a pump to empty my hot tub and picked this one after a lot of web research. Have only used it once, but it worked great, drained 350 gallons in an hour with about a 3 ft. rise using the garden hose reducer on the outlet. The power cord is plenty long enough, and the unit is nicely weighted to stay put. Instructions were simple, hookup and operation were easy. The only "con" I have is that the instructions say it will pump down to 1/4 of an inch, but it needs 2 5/8 inches of water to operate, so keep an eye on the water level to avoid over heating the pump. Hoping to use this 3-4 times a year, time will tell how durable this unit is.

Doesn't clog easy - lowered to the bottom and it starting pumping mud! would recommend using 50' (or less) for discharge hose - might be better with larger than 5/8 garden hose though - a lot of friction loss with the small diameter hose.
