Customer Questions & Answers

does this pump require a dedicated electrical circuit?

Asked by: JayOne
Electrical requirement wise (Building code may require it) i don't think so but safety wise it should be on it's own GFI circuit with a alert type light to let you know if the circuit trips. You can't depend on any pump to run 100% of the time and if you have a serious water problem and the sump pumps stops working and you don't know it damage occurs.

Does this pump have a float sensor?

The location for our sump pump requires that it has a float sensor so that we don't have to access it regularly. Does this have one? The specs look like it does but I want to ask before we purchase it.
Asked by: TParker
Yes, it has a float switch to turn the pump on and off.

Can this pump work in a yard with standing water?

Here in Florida we just had a realy bad storm, I have standing water that has no where to drain I just need a pump for a small back yard the water is setteling at my a/c unit and In the middle of my yard is a slope If I had a hose long enough to go around the side of my home. my front yard has a slope where it can drain. I've never used one of these. Can someone please help me?
Asked by: Stormy2015
Yes, but make sure you have a primary debris screen for leaves, and stuff - also make sire you plug into a GFI outlet. For a emergency use you would be ok, but I would not install any sump pump outside there are pumps designed for exposure to the elements.

I have it in a storage tote and I'm using it to pump drain water from a utility sink. Flow rate is excessive so I have a ball valve on it to reduce the flow rate. Only complaint is that the float switch turns off the pump about an inch and a half higher than the pump is capable of before drawing air. I plan to swap out the stainless rod with a longer one, that way I can minimize the amount of standing water in the basin. An adjustable float would be a nice feature but I can understand why a company would not want to leave that adjustment up to the consumer....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Product, Easy Installation I ordered this sump pump online from Home Depot, as it was not available in stores. The reviews were very positive for this unit, and the price was about what I wanted to spend. The unit arrived in three days after ordering, which was great considering the shipping was free. This sump pump replaced a sump pump whose switch had failed. Including cutting new PVC pipe and cleaning out the sump pail, the installation took less than one hour. The units looks very solidly built, and I like that the suction is from the sides rather than from the very bottom--makes it much less likely to clog up. The unit runs quietly, and the cord length is more than ample. Overall, very happy with the purchase.

I had this in my water softener dump pit, after about 6-7 years all the bolts will rust right through and the entire motor will snap apart when you least expect it leaving it in pieces and non-functional. I have a watch dog in my other pit that ejects water from foundation tiles and it's still running strong and quiet because it has a solid casted outer housing.

The weight of this pump is important to me because the previous pumps I had in the sump well moved when the pump started. This sometimes caused the float switch actuator to wedge itself against the well wall. Then until I reset the pump position it either continued to run when the water was all pumped out, or didn't run at all if it was wedged in the off position.

The product arrived on time and seems to work fine (only in use for 1 month). It is very quiet and moves a lot of water. The data sheet says line cord is 10 feet, although mine came in at 7 feet. It was long enough for my installation, but data sheet should be updated to reflect actual product. Otherwise I'm very happy with the purchase.

I just purchased a new one as the old one was 7 years old and I felt it was taking a little too long to pump out and was getting noisy. The new one is much faster and quiet. I can't complain about how long the old pump lasted as it had to run almost daily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sump pump worked as planed. The box was beat up but the pump was fine. I had a slight problem with the level switch. It stuck when I first tried it. I operated the switch by had about 20 times and it quit hanging up. The switch did not turn the pump off at first. It works great now.

Works fine, though for my particular application, a foot or two longer cord would have been better. I'm considering putting a piece of plastic straw above the float so the pump would come on sooner during a heavy downpour.
