My well is around 250' from the house and I would like to install this in my basement. Currently there is a submersible pump in the well at 25 feet. The builder put too small of a wire in to properly power the current pump.

Answer:
At around 250', the wire gauge needed would be 12 gauge using 230V, or 6 gauge using 115 volts. Of course, your areas' codes may be different, so check it out. A far as vertical lift goes, this pumps' limit is right at 25'. You may want to consider another submersible pump instead of a jet pump. I hope this helps you out .

I ran into the same situation. I bought a SWS75, and it quit after two cycles. I could not get it replaced with another of the same type, so I bought a 1/2 HP pump, which cost much more. I ran into the same situation. I bought a SWS75, and it quit after two cycles. I could not get it replaced with another of the same type, so I bought a 1/2 HP pump, which cost much more. I believe the manufacturer was trying to get rid of a bunch of badly designed pumps, then when engineering fixed the issue, they quite naturally charged more for the same, but re-engineered, pump. This is an opinion I shared with Home Depot, and was rewarded with some agreement, but I still spent more to get a lesser replacement. To be fair, the 1/2 HP pump is adequate for my needs, and it has run flawlessly for about a year and a half. I may be wrong about the SWS75 situation, but I believe something not quite kosher was going on.
Thanks for reading my rant. Hope this helps you all to some degree.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far, so good I pump water from a lake for watering lawn and washing my cars. Only have it for one month but sems to work well. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shower power This Well Pump works well to keep my landscaping refreshed and provides great pressure for cleaning yard equipment and furniture.Replaced a cheaper brand that quit sooner than expected .Well worth the price. April 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Working Good I replaced a plastic bodied Sears 1/2 HP pump this pump cast iron Wayne 3/4 HP pump. What a huge difference in volume, pressure, run time, and sound. I ordered this pump online from Home Depot. It was the cheapest price on a pump like this that I could find and I considered many. Don't know if it will last but it is working great for past 2 months. Shipment was in the form of the retail box with no additional protection. It was pretty beat up but there was no damage to the pump. I did not use the pressure switch installed on the pump which will be there for back-up. Instead I used a Square D with low pressure cut-off to protect the pump in case I run out of water for any number of reasons. This will prevent the pump from ruin in case it should run dry. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good brand, great prive Pump was very easy to install. Has great power and runs very quiet. February 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well, thank goodness the installation is complete and working. This Wayne pump replaced an old unit in a remote installation. I couldn't afford to hire a professional and it was so hard to get down to spring location, I didn't want to ask a friend for help. I had no experience with wiring or pumps, but this nice cast iron shallow well jet pump slipped right into the system and pumps nicely! November 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wayne pumps meet and exceed expectations Wayne pumps have served me well for over 15 years of shallow well performance. My last pump (SWS50) never failed even under extreme harsh conditions. I hope my new pump (SWS75) can serve me just as well. October 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Plenty strong and quiet compared to older HydroGlass pump This replaced a failing 12 year old Sears HydroGlass 3/4 hp pump. The cast iron pump housing is much quieter. I also have it set to 50-70 psi. It has no problem maintaining that range. September 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sometimes it doesn't work out... This first pump ran beautifully for two pump cycles, then it would not restart- likely the starting capacitor. This can happen on any given occasion, but I was a little bummed about it. HD took care of the return, and immediately sent out another pump. Customer Service was great about fixing this matter.
