Questions & Answers

do you cut the lumber to my specfication

i need four pieces six inches long out of this lumber can it be cut by homedepot for me
Asked by: mickey
Yes lumber can be cut to size but do know that there is a small cutting charge (50 cents) and there is no precision cutting. But its close enough, It should be an 1/8 or shorter off. Reason being is its a rough cut saw, (the blade wobbles and is dull). And only Plywood can be rip cut, lumber can only be cross cut. And no miter cuts on the saw. And also contrary to the person who answered before me, once the lumber is cut you have to buy it (no returns) and you have to pay the price indicated on the price tag, Its not molding its not sold by the foot or anything, its sold as whole. But besides that there should be no problem. - Lumber Associate.

I believe you are looking for a piece of rough sawn lumber. Its true dimensions are 2" x 4". Check a real lumber yard

Customer Reviews

2 in. x 4 in. x 10 ft. #2 Prime Pressure-Treated Lumber is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from poorly graded, and milled Never wrote something bad before, but have to on this. I have been a builder for over 20 years. I recently moved here and the use of Pine for structural framing is new to me. That said, the lumber I got from HD was soo poorly graded and milled. The 2x4x8 weather shield ran 1 7/16 x 3 7/16, and those numbers grew as the length increased. The 2x4x12 ran 1 11/16 x 3 12/16. Did not find this out till after I framed a bunch of walls and the height difference as over 1/4 inch some places. Also the 2x6 I used for joists had 1/4 inch difference in width from end to end which makes getting a flat floor impossible, plus the #2 and better had spike knots and wane which would normally make these a #3. Look at the wood for more than just bows and twists, take a tape and check for yourself

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok boards I noticed the boards weren't really wet like some treated boards but they had lot of bowed ones that I had to pick through.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Considering they were so long, they were very nice and straight. These were relatively straight with limited knots. I was very happy considering this was an online order, and I didn't personally select the items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good It is good. Good it is, young padawan. I liked that it was hard and didn't break, even when my mom sat on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good wood Length provided one cut solution to bracing of overhang.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Varying quality, length and thickness I picked up some for a shed frame. Since its on a foundation went with smaller boards. Thickness varied from one end to next, 2 of the 10 were nearly 3/4 of an inch short. Some dry as a bone others slick from treating. Pretty straight though but that was due to the half hour of looking thru bins. Avid HD shopper but the lumber I've bought made me go elsewhere.
