Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by F250 SMOKIN! Weber Smokey Mountain 18.5
Picked this up 3 weeks ago, and have fired it up 4 times already. Brought it home and had it together in about an hour. Have done 2 practice and 2 serious cooks with it. Did spare ribs on Sunday, and a pork shoulder today. The Wife said the ribs were the best que I've ever done, and the pulled pork was moist and tender. I found the 18.5 to be more than I need for the Wife and I, but it will be perfect when the kids and grand kids are over. This smoker is super easy to use, and will hold temp for incredibly long times. I highly recommend this smoker, in which ever size you need, if you want to learn how to smoke meats. The learning curve is extremely short. Give it a try!

I attended several BBQ / Food Smoking classes this is the unit used most , I bought this on the 4th of July , took it home and immediately assembled it and in less than hour had it fired up and did some incredible ribs , here is the only low mark , HD had two units on their shelf , I took the box that did not show damage , unfortunately my unit had a dent on the upper rim and is not symmetrically round so the lid is a struggle too put on Dave

I had considered multiple smokers before purchasing this one. I'm happy with my purchase. The 4 air vents make it easy to control the temperature. Loaded with lump charcoal I can smoke unattended with only about a 5-10 degree variation in temperature for hours. I think you could easily fit four 10lb pork shoulders, two per shelf, maybe even three per shelf.
Using an external wireless thermometer really helps monitor internal temp or meat temp and the access port on the side makes this easy to do.

My husband bought this smoker in the 18 1/2 in size for my son-in-law. It was bought for Fathers day. What my husband didn't know was that I bought him the same smoker in the 14 1/2 one. He is just thrilled with it, and my son-in-law is very happy with his. So Fathers day turned out pretty good for both of them, and my daughter and I get the benefits from them cooking. Thanks again.

I thought I wanted the 22" version but found that it was difficult to keep the temperature under 275*. Amazing Ribs (http://amazingribs.com/) rates this smoker very high and I prefer a vertical smoker over the heat source as opposed to a horizontal smoker with the heat source off to the side. After a few tries I have been able to steady the temps by opening and closing the vents, between 225* and 250*. Great for several racks of spare ribs, or brisket, or shoulder.
Weber is the king for outdoor cooking in my opinion and I have a Weber kettle grill, gas grill, and now the 18-1/2 IN. SMOKEY MOUNTAIN COOKER SMOKER.

I've only had the Smoker a month and have only used twice, so I'm no expert - yet. I ordered the rapidfire chimney starter at the same time and they both arrived together. There is some (1 hr for me) assembly involved, and you need to check out the instructions that apply to the size you ordered.
Speaking of size, the prep for smoking is not a spur-of-the-moment deal. Uses a lot of charcoal. Not the best way to cook something fast and hot like burgers or dogs. My first time, cooking baby back ribs, I was chinzy with charcoal and couldn't maintain stable heat for long enough and had to finish them in the oven. (Nice and smoky though) The smoker comes with a water pan which you may need to refill during long cooking periods. This size is plenty big for a 15-18 lb turkey, which I plan for Fall.
Smoker comes with a cover to keep it dry. You will also want a big oven mitt, wood for smoking, heat resistant gloves. There are 4 pieces to the smoker so if you need a table or something ( I used my gas grill surface) to hold things like the cooking grills and water pan while you are getting the coals going. Definitely requires a commitment of time, planning and work, but worth it!
