Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by HOMEYDFD Finally got into the smoker game!!
Ok this is a late review because I bought this smoker during the Super bowl to smoke a brisket. WOW is all I can say! First setting up the smoker was super easy, added wheels for mobility, and honestly right out the box it held temperature without any major adjustments. Had to add charcoal about 4-5 hours into my cook. Not bad if I must say,. Super easy to use and maintain temp for any long cook. Also did baby back ribs, but left them on too long. Smoked for about two hours then wrapped them in foil for another three and they literally fell off the bone. Way too done for me. Used Apple and Hickory wood chunks. Also held temp even when it was cold out, I think I was in the low 30's that day so I can imagine how much better it should perform in warmer weather. Even thinking about entering some competitions in the near future! Overall a solid investment so if you are on the fence trust me you won't be disappointed!

I've been smoking meat on an offset stick burner for years...and it has done well. The problem is, it worked me to death, because it wouldn't hold temp for very long. That is not the case with this 22.5" WSM. I've cooked on it 4 times so far, including two overnight cooks, and it has been amazing. On both overnight cooks, I went to bed and left it alone all night...no problem, still holding temp the next morning. I could never do that with an offset. The last overnight pork butt I smoked was a 9 pounder that took 14 hours at 235*. The WSM never waivered. I did use one large bag of Kingsford, but only one of my normal post oak splits that I use on the offset, cut up into fist sized chunks. For a 14 hour smoke on the offset, I would've used 22-25 splits. It has almost twice the cooking surface of the XL BGE, but at 1/3 the price. I added the wheels myself...very simple mod. The only problem I see with the 22.5" WSM is it's making me lazy.

Beef rids and chicken, Check! Working my way up to a brisket!
Good smoke, temperature was easy to maintain and plenty of room. The only negative think I have is the door. It not a flush fit when closed which allows smoke out and might change air flow. Putting on a gasket is a easy fix to the door leakage!

I've used this smoker in the past and was looking forward to getting my hands on a real smoker once again. The 22 1/2" is big enough that I could cook 6 pork butts at once if I want, but not so big that it is a waste of fuel for dinner for 2. So happy I got this size instead of the 18". I love the adjustable sausage hanging rack I bought along with it. I have been smoking my own Kielbasa, Landjagers, bacon, and natural cased wieners right after I seasoned it. I did 3 practice burns with scrap meat to season it in and get some smoke and grease in it, It has been getting a heavy workout in just a few months. I just love it. works fantastic

This thing lives up to all of the hype. It allows you to finally achieve the barbecue products that you've been trying to emulate on a conventional grill, but never been satisfied with. It's super easy to use, and use correctly to produce delicious food! 5 stars!

I bought the 22" WSM as my first smoker after doing much research on many barbecue forums.
I am glad I did. It is easy to adjust heat levels and holds temperature well. I have cooked brisket flats , whole packer briskets, pork butts, pork and beef ribs and chickens which all came out great. Once you get the "feel" for the vent control you can get a long , slow smoke for 12-14 hours at 225-250 A piece of advice is to run it in the shade out of the wind as wind and direct sun can affect temps up or down.
This smoker is well built, well designed and can turn a novice into a barbecue meister in a very short time. I am so glad I didn't buy an offset smoker.
