After having several grills from other makers that were made in China and rusted out in a couple years I decided enough was enough.
The Weber Genesis is made in Illinois, not China. After almost 3 years of use the grill shows no signs of rusting. Its performance is superb, with even heating anywhere on the grates. With a well insulated lid, it is capable of creating the high temps needed to properly sear steaks to seal in juices. Lower temps for burgers and dogs works great also, with even cooking throughout.
Yes it costs more at first, but it should balance out because of increased life. I would definitely recommend the Genesis to anyone.

My last Weber propane grill lasted 17 years, and we grill almost every night. This new Genesis grill has even more cook space, and seems of same or better quality/design. Ignition system is better, burners go front to back instead of the old left to right--indirect cooking seems good so far. Doesn't have the double-layered perpendicular flavor bars like the older style, but new ones seem to work just fine. Heats fast, gas controls are better, and can control from hot sear to low and slow cooking. All four wheels pivot, so positioning is easy, fronts lock to keep in place. Enameled cast iron grates worked the best in the old grill and this has the same--no rusting, easy brushing. Looks great.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dat nice grill - Home Depot ought to read instructions on assembly
The grill is great- solid grill -mfr'd well . i ordered and picked up an assembled unit from Home Depot- the grill was wrapped up well for transit. got it home - the side shelves were assembled backwards. Used the grill 3 times and have had gas leak issues every time i start it. Another Home Depot defect ? Next time, i will assemble myself. 1 Star for Windham , CT home Depot, 5 for the grill

Not happy with Home depot at all. Picked up grill took it home tried to set it up propane bottle did not fit correctly made it work somehow used grill it worked flawlessly. On Monday I called Weber about the problem and was told that Home depot assembled the grill incorrectly. Today I went to see the dept. manager whom with an attitude told me to do it myself or bring it back, extremely unprofessional. The grill cooks great and is a very well made product if you decide to buy it from the Dumb depot make sure they assembled it correctly as now I have to take it apart and re-assemble it. Not good.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by KSawDIYer High Quality Product, Easy to Assemble
Finally, I have a Weber Genesis of my own! This grill is definitely worth the investment -- As a brand new owner of a Weber Genesis, I made this purchase after careful consideration and research. Many family members have Genesis grills that have stood the test of time. In fact, the one my mom uses is about 15 years old at this point and still going strong, and my two older brothers' grills are about 8-10 years old.
Temperature control and even heat distribution on these are great. So whether you are cooking for just two people or hamburgers for 30 this grill does the job extremely well.
When purchasing my grill, I chose the unassembled version for ease of transport and honestly I like putting things together. The entire assembly took my about 1.5 - 2 hours by myself, but it was very straightforward and easy to understand. There simply were a lot of parts to the assembly. Unlike other assembly jobs I have done in the past for other things, this was a breeze. All of the holes lined up where they should be, and all of the screws/bolts went in very easily. Just a few tools were required to assemble this grill. You can tell a lot about the quality of an item from assembling it from the ground up. All of the screws lining up with the holes is HUGE in ensuring high quality products. I have assembled many items in the past that did not align and were a pain to assemble. All of the parts were wrapped well and protected well in the box.
After finishing the grill, I was able to make our first meal on it and the performance was outstanding. The grill heated to temp in no time, and I was able to cook our entire meal on the grill to perfection utilizing the manufacturers guide for direct and indirect heating.
I highly recommend this product, and if you are debating between this and the Weber Spirit series, opt for this version and you will not be disappointed.

Rock solid grill. Gets hot and stays at the right temperature for perfect grilling results. The grates are easy to brush clean once up to temperature, so nothing gets stuck to the food being cooked. You seem to get what you pay for here, which is a lot.

Looked at lots of reviews and considered a few other brands, but the Weber was clearly the best choice for us, and the size of this grill best for the way we use it. Assembly wasn't difficult and made a lot easier because I viewed a Youtube video from some English hardware store that showed how to assemble it and included some tips that ease assembly.

Straight forward assembly, hardy materials, and cooks great. Took the plunge of paying more for a Weber as its reputation has been excellent. So far no disappointments.
