Can you put the Stainless Steel grates in the dishwasher to clean them?

The manual says warm soapy water and rinse. Nothing about a dishwasher.

Yes. Bought for natural gas use. Just needed to purchase a stub for the gas pipe to adapt the gas hose.

why does this stainless steel rust?

since i bought this new last season, i now have surface rust spots all over grill and i have an all-season cover by classic accessories. for a $1K grill, this shouldn't happen.
Asked by: doug
Heating any stainless steel at high temperatures will cause the carbon atoms to migrate to the surface. Carbon rusts quite easily. Passivating the stainless steel will fix the rust problem. Our company uses Citrisurf 2250 to passivate our stainless steel tanks after the tanks are welded. www.citrisurf.com/wave.htm

Genesis S-330 3-Burner Natural Gas Grill in Stainless Steel is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 145.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from WEBER = AMAZING!!!! I first purchased a Brinkmann, but it was damaged when I got home. Went back and got another, and that too was damaged! Went back and got a Char-Broil and there was a manufacturer defect, so that got returned! It was obvious that I was destined to get a Weber. Believe it or not, the Weber had a few parts that were damaged upon delivery, but I called Weber and they overnighted me the new parts, excellent customer service! This grill is so unbelievably nice. Either spend the big $$ to get this, or get a cheap $100 grill, there is no in-between when it comes to grills.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Stainless GrillvDoes Rust I bought this grill online and then had Home Depot assemble it for free, great service. I had the grill for 2 weeks and used it once the day it came home. It worked perfectly. Two weeks later I took off my Weber cover and the grill was covered, and I mean covered, in rust. Even the stainless cooking grate was rusting. I was beside myself given that I just paid a grand for this two weeks ago. After reading online I found that Weber changed to a lower grade stainless steel and it sure shows. This grill will be a lot of work to keep it rust free if you store it outside. I did return the grill, Home Depot staff were awesome and took the grill back for a refund.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the sear feature It was tough to spend the money on this grill however it has exceeded my expectations. My steaks are now seared and grilled to perfection. I have grilled steaks, lamb chops, chicken, pork chops, and veggies and the meats have all turned out very juicy. Be carful, it gets the job done fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weber gas grill This Weber gas grill is nice looking, heats quickly and evenly. The only thing negative about it, is the gas line fitting should have been sized for 1/2" pipe not 3/8". Outside gas lines are 1/2" by code. I had to run to the hardware store to buy a reducer fitting and 3/8" nipple

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Build Grill Our new natural gas grill is a very attractive and well made product. I have only two points of concern. Nowhere in the literature did it explicitly identify where exactly the sear station was. It wasn't too difficult to identify after looking more closely. But it would have been a welcome clarification before firing up for my first grilling. Ordinarily (for those *without* a searing station) there would be only 3 burners evenly spaced across the grill. All the searing station is is an additional burner between the 1st and 2nd burners. And it becomes clear when you notice the knob that says "searing station" right in front of that burner. But is it a "station?" Anyway... My second concern was that the handle to open the grill goes across the front of the lid, as one would expect. Looks nice and is functional. Only problem is when you have pre-heated the grill with all burners firing (the temperature needle was buried above 700 degrees!) when you grab that handle to open the grill the parts of the handle that are attached to the lid begin to get rather hot themselves. And when you open the lid (now holding it in the center of that handle), you are forced to move your hand and forearm directly over that incredibly hot grill!! One way to deal with this, obviously, would be to use some sort of oven mitt. The irony here is that people consistently clamor for hotter and hotter grills, and when you finally get one, it can be tricky to work around that heat while opening and closing the lit. There's really no good way to have done it any differently. But beware that you may have to protect yourself from the heat from time to time. My warning about the heat should actually come as an endorsement to many serious grillers. :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Weber genesis s330. Great Great grill. Seems solid works well. Weber has little plastic recipe & heat recommendations which work well. Didn't burn anything hotdogs steak or chicken. You know how it is when try grill first time but all went well I'll probably get rotisserie unit to go with it No issues thus far. Only had a few weeks so we will see Home Depot was great help with purchase and delivery too

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE this grill We had a 10 year old Weber Silver B propane grill that we wanted to replace. Since it still worked, we sold it and bought this when we moved to a new home with a natural gas hookup. We love how durable Webers are. And it is so nice to not have to run out for propane ever again. This sears like a dream, pre heats very quickly, and the cooking temperature seems more constant than our other one. The side burner boiled water just as fast as my stove did (we tested that right away). My in-laws had a cheaper grill of another brand, and when you cook on it, the shape of the grill hood fires the heat and smoke directly in your face. It is no fun to cook on that. We hope that this grill lasts as long as our last one did. We use it a lot. We do always keep our grill covered, and that may have contributed to its longevity. Hope this was helpful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For the Price Weber should make this grill using 100% REAL StainlessSteel Was researching and looking around at grills to replace my old Charbroil gas grill. For years have been hearing nothing but praise about weber and their grills. I have two charcoal Weber grills and they are good indeed, so i decided to try to their gas out. Boy oh boy...i was floored by the prices and figured this must be a really good QUALITY grill especially for the premium price tag. As i was researching i come to find out that Weber years ago went from 304 SS to 430 SS (Stainless Steel). My main worry now was rust and longevity. My main point is I'm not made of money so if I'm paying over $1000 for a grill you bet i want it to last and look nice at the same time as well as cook good. To start i went down to my local homedepo and checked out the grill in person, i lifted the hood and it APPEARED heavy duty. After further inspection of the hood i come to find out that not only was it 430 SS but the only heavy parts are the two sides and possibly the handle, after giving the rest of the hood a "tap" i find out the rest of the lid (front/top/back) is thin gauge 430 SS compared to what it should be for a $1000 grill. what a bummer. Now i moved on the to quality of the rest of the internal parts and they were built pretty good like they should last. I move on to the quality/construction of the cart (what the grill sits ontop of) and what a joke. The FRAME is solid, but that's about it, "knocked" on the door panel and knocked on the rest of the panels and it was VERY THING GAUGE SS, way thinner than the hood (not to mention it was 430 SS as well). i laughed in disappointment. Since it was on sale and its HD and they can take back just about anything with a receipt i bought it. On to the cooking, not too much to say, it cooks well as expected and sears very well. But personally i could BBQ almost the same with a $200 gas grill so it doesn't justify the $800 price difference ($1000-$200=$800.... Well folks... as i sometimes say.."by the time it comes to the plate no on will notice much difference on how it was cooked"...so i thought to myself a $800 saving is looking pretty good right now. Needless to say I am very very disappointed in Weber's choice to move from 304 to 430, they claim its no different, but it is a difference and the majority of reviewers still haven't had their grill long enough to see the "long term" effects of the difference in SS. I mean come on, if Weber's going to go cheaper quality SS at-least make it a thicker gauge SS or if they are going to keep it thin at least go 304 SS. Weber Weber Weber O what have you done. Seems like they've chosen the way of profits and "brand reputation" over quality. I've been reading very good reviews about the SABER line of grills and they are true 304 SS, but i can't seem to find any Saber grills in store to make a comparison, from early reviews Saber might be the way to go considering its a small price jump, only problem is i would like to see the Saber in person before i jump off the Weber ship. Bottom line If there was a 2.5 star i wold give it a 2.5 overall. 4.5 on the cooking and 2.5 on the build quality considering the hefty pricetag. i ended up taking my grill back after a long and thoughtful debate. Not worth the money IMO and would rather spend extra $100-$200 on true thicker gauge 304 SS grill (or just save money and go cheaper...after all its the Chef that makes the food, not the grill)
