I've BBQ'ed for 40 years with Weber and others, gas and charcoal. Charcoal gives the best taste and control for GREAT, not good, GREAT cooking.
The problems with the older Webers were ash collection and wasting charcoal. To get the heat you want needs an amount of charcoal to fit the grill. This grill, with the addition of semi-circle charcoal holders solves all the probelms to give you the best at a fraction of the cost of expensive gas grills.
Ash easily goes down to pan underneath. With the semi-circle charcoal holders, you can re-use charcoal from last time, even for a small fire.
Would not buy anything else. FIVE stars! And buy a cover!

I've been a long-time user of Weber charcoal grills, and when my last One-Touch was stolen, I waited until I moved into my new house to buy the One-Touch Gold. Having had experience with the ash sweeper (which is a great idea), I knew I wanted a better containment system that an open tray where wind blows the ashes (and sparks) wherever, and I knew I wanted a hinged grate to add charcoal, or wood chunks. The One-Touch Gold has these features, and more. I like the new composite handles that won't rot off like my old wooden handles did, and I've never seen a spot of rust on the porcelain coated parts on any of my Webers.
Overall, you can't go wrong with this grill.

This unit is the best BBQ, I have ownerd, the quality and workmanship are excellent. This Charcoal grill will Blow away any 1500 Gas Grill easily. I recommend the weber chimney starter, saves alot of work
and is all natural, No fuels or Chemicals.
** What Home Depot should Carry is the Part No: Weber 2290 (This is the Rotisserie attchment for the 22.5 " grills). I have cooked an 18 lbs. Turkey on this Grill usiiong the indirect method, It was gone to the bone by early evening. Using the 2290 you can probably cook 2-3 chickens at 1 shot.
Excellent Product, Recommended Highly

I bought this grill because I am sick of my gas grill. Seems like I am constantly repairing and replacing parts for it. In addition, I prefer the flavor of food cooked over charcoal. This grill does not dissapoint. It was easy to assemble, seems to be low maintenance, with the one touch ash catch, cooks the food very evenly, and I have the ol' charcoal flavor back. My only knock was when I got it home it had a large chip out of the lid, but one call to webber took care of that they quickly dispatched me a new lid. overall, I recommend this product. Oh I forgot to mention I have an awesome webber grill that is blue. Love the color change everything webber is typically black colored.

Extremely solid design. The grate is hinged so that you can access the charcoal if it needs to be moved around, or add a chunk of wood to give the food a great smokey flavour.
The ash catcher is far better than the tiny plate most charcoal kettles use. They typically spill ashes everywhere, while this catches everything.
I would also recommend getting the Weber charcoal chimney starter, as it makes starting the charcoal a breeze.
Get this and a Weber Smokey Mountain smoker, and never use a gas grill again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BassMasterMike This Grill Catches the hot ashes before they blow to the wind and create a grass fire, especially here in Central Texas. Ash removal is easy.
I'm 60 years young and I've owned different types of Grills as BBQ is my favorite sport. Weber and especially this model without a doubt is the best you can buy in my opinion. You pay a little more ... but you get a lot more. I had one that lasted me almost seven years and I am not just a weekend BBQ warrior. I've been known to cook chicken when it's snowing (Flagstaff, AZ). I just hope Weber doesn't go cheap on its material as some companies do when they gain fame. Buy one and you will see. As a tip .... try putting your smoke chunks on top of the grill above the charcoal when you use the charcoal side pans ... the smoke last longer and the food is moist and at the very least ... extremely delicious. I have had this BBQ for about a year and like everyone else is saying you should get a chimney to start the charcoal. It is very east to light and use. I like to set up a hot zone, a medium zone and a cool zone so that you can rotate the grill to facilitate best cooking. One other item to get that will help in cooking is a rib rack . This will hold ribs upright and make for better cooking.

selected this grill, because I've been a weber owner for many years and
have been happy with my food. I like this one, because I had a choice
of colors and also, because I'm familiar with the product. Many of my
neighbors have large gas grills on their decks or patios that seem to
be idle most of the time. I use my charcoal grill regularly, especially
during spring and summer and enjoy the smoky flavor charcoal grilling
provides without having to heat up the kitchen with the oven. I also
like this particular one, because I can regulate the heat pretty well
and the ash catcher makes cleanup a breeze. I love cooking all types of
food on my grill. It's a keeper and I also like the cookbook and
recipes that came with it and will use them to perfect my queing
I rated the grill 4 out of 5 stars, because I would have liked a hybrid gas/charcoal, but am still glad I purchased a new weber.
